Hi All,

I am toying with the idea of trading my 7 for a 6. Here's why.

I used to have a 6. In fact I had the whole kit....50,75, 150. Then some scum sucking low life stole it!!

Anywho, after gnashing my teeth and railing at the injustice of the universe for a while I replaced the then out of production 6 with a 7. That was a few years ago.

I have used the 7 since then and like it just fine. But.....

I have also grown to dislike a couple of things about it.... the size (no collapsable lens).... the 6x7 format, I thought I would prefer it to the 6x6 but it just did not deliver what I had hoped. I actually print a fair number of shots taken with the 7 as squares. Needless to say my thoughts have recently drifted back to the 6.....oh that lovely 6...collapsable lens, easy no fuss square format, beautiful black finish....

mmmmmmmm 6

So what is a poor prairie boy to do?

Could I? should I? trade a good condition 7 with 80mm lens for a 6 with a 75?

What sort of deal should I expect to get? How would I go about making the trade?

You could try a Want to Trade ad on photonet if no one here is interested. I have never held a 7 but I do have a 6 and love it and the results I get from it.

Try talking to the folks at KEH? They have 6's for less than 7's, so you might be able to work somthing out with them.

Hi Craig

if you are thinking about this then you want to do it. Life is short. Go do a deal with someone that will deal and pony up the difference. You'll grumble, but after one year you will wonder what took you so long and then you will start feeling very satisfied.

I just went and did it. Painful yes but now 3 years later I'm a very happy guy.

BTW I did my deal with KEH, they were just fine. I had a problem with the body electrics and had a local camera repair look at it. It came back with a no charge advisory telling me to send it back. Repair estimate was $500+ . Emailed KEH, send it in. New camera back! Never missed a beat. Wonderful service from Arthur Zebrak. I use them for all the little things day in day out. Sorry about the self centred take. But I think the camera is great and so are KEH. No regrets ever.
