Here is an image from a 1938 un-coated 50/3.5 Elmar (460xxx) on my M8. Nice to have system which lets you explore the look so many different lenses.

The results from these old lenses can be very pleasing, I wish more people would post some. Coincidently I took my seventy year old 'Baby Ikonta' for a walk along the waterfront this morning, - just been scanning some of the results :)

Cheers, Dave.

The lack of coating tends to give a blue cast in daylight and a yellow/brown cast under tungsten, but I have used my 1936 Elmar quite happily on my M8. In fact, a few months ago I did a Shutterbug article about 23 old lenses on an M8.

One of my favourite lenses on the M8 is my 1938 Thambar, where I prefer it to mono film.

Cheers,

R.

I love the look of my pre-war uncoated Elmar 9cm/4:

At present my FAVORITE lens is the 35 /3.5 ELMAR

Here are a few pixs with the 50 & 35 Elmar
I love the way this lens draws in B&W .....

I've even used my ELMAR on my Pentax DSLR (macro). It is wonderful. I've had the lens since 1963. And it is still my favorite 35mm lens. This is a bad scan, bad focus, but 1965:
