70mm Film FUN up ahead

Wow, I can deal with the issues of dupe film for that price...

Just sent a message to them to see if they would post to the USA.

Thanks for the link.

F,

Seems like a great opportunity and challenge. Sometimes constraints create forced moves that make grand leaps and original thinking.

In my case I'll be limiting myself to Rollie 400S. Somehow I'll make it work for me.

I'll wait until someone buys some and shows how it actually looks. I bought a can of 35mm Fujifilm slide film ( '99 vintage ) and it was yellow. Too much color cast for me. Tossed it. Like you, Cal, I'm pretty happy with the Rollei 400. And the 2006/7 Portra 400NC and 400BW I stocked up on.

Heard back, they will indeed ship to US, they said nothing special is needed just place the order.

Time to get cracking!

W,

Call me a lazy slacker, but simple is good.

Also I kinda learned to run far with the ball and go all the way. I can do mucho photography with just 400S, I like the results and its own distinct look, and best of all it is inexpensive fresh film.

Gregory Heisler used successfully Slide duplicating film for some of his project but it required running extensive test to find right filtration and exposure. I personally will stay with traditional BW 70mm film. For colour work I'm super happy with digital capture.

From what the guy told me he says dev in c41 and it brings the colors to within reason. He has some examples on his instagram, ill ask him if I can share them here.

Of course If you want slides you could always experiment with CC filters...

99% odds I'll just run it as B&W and scan. I haven't made a darkroom print in a few years so base layer tint is no problem.

Mamiya RB67 w/65mm KL 70mm Rollei 400. Semi stand development in Rodinal. Had a problem getting the negatives on the spool. And my first photo of this outing was a double exposure--which this setup shouldn't do but it did. 10 photos ( 6x7 ) is about all I can get on my Patterson spools easily--makes me wonder how 220 film can fit. Anyway, some keepers.

After some thinking, that Slide dupe material will be nice for testing slitters, reels, magazines etc. If we can find some economical shipping from UK I will be interested in one roll?
Is anybody else interested?

3 rolls = £35 shipping + £25 for film
5 rolls = £45 + £42 for the film
10 rolls = £68 + £83.20 for the film

Hi Jake, can you please share with us link to his pictures? Thank you in advance!

Ok, Thank you! Is that shipping to US?
I just asked them for shipping quote to Vancouver, Canada.
So, roughly, under 2 rolls shipping is more expensive than the film and on 3 roll is almost equal.
I just checked again Gregory Heisler "50 Portraits" book and he used for one portrait 4x5" Kodak slide duplicating film at EI 12, with G and Y filtration and full CTO filtration on the strobe. It's not simple technique to obtain right colour balance but it's doable with lots of patience and nice deep pocket for E6 test runs. This kind of film has extremely low contrast.

The Linhof Cine Rollex back can pull unperforated film through just fine. Did two test and spacing is even and film advances as smooth as it can in a Linhof back.

W,

Thanks for posting this. I have several 6x7 CINES and even a rare 645 CINE for my baby Linhof's.

I assume the teeth on the rollers are of no consequence. Also I have extra rollers from dead CINE's that were donated to me. On some CINE's the rollers have teeth on both sides; and on others only on one side. A drift pin allows easy exchange and removal of the rollers, but the drift pin hole sometimes is not in the same location so a new set of holes might have to be drilled.

Non perf film opens up the envelope for me.

Mucho thanks.

Another photo showing the teeth of the back pushing against the film.

What got me thinking the Cine back would work with unperforated film was the Mamiya 70mm back can pull unperforated film through it and the counter works.

I have about 600' of unperforated film and I could use the Graflex RH50, but good to know other backs work with that film too.

W,

Thanks for the follow-up. Very clever.
