PhotoImpex says it's Panatomic-X double perforated (type II?) they say will work in Hasselblads, RB67's, Bronicas, etc 70mm film backs. I haven't bought yet but I am seriously thinking about it. That's a big slug of film (700 feet) but that would prolly be all I will ever need, especially when you consider what I already have in my freezer. 🙂 700 feet equals 3,000 6x6cm exposures of 70mm Panatomic-X. Not counting leader, of course. Total cost to USA about $700 US

Since it is thin based film, I think you could prolly load 250 exposures of the Panatomic-X into a Hasselblad A70. They made one that had a counter that went to 250, but I have literature from them, that says the the standard A70 will run 250 exposures, but of course the counter stops at 70. Works fine with really big loads, according to Hasselblad.

Is the Rollei the freshest 70mm film out there? Only fresh 70mm film? I still have 100ft roll. Might buy some more--I'd really like to find some more C41 color or B&W film like I did last year. That Portra was really nice to find in 70mm.

I'm seeing all kinds of C41 70mm unperforated on Ebay right now. Search under "70mm films" color & B&W C41 available now. Unperforated 70mm will run well in a Graflex 70mm film back, or I have a couple of the Beatty Coleman Transet 70mm backs that I think are really cool. Both of those will fit any camera with Graflock back. Be great on a Speed Graphic or view camera. At about fifty bucks a roll THAT is the best 70mm C41 bang for the buck.

Prolly people reselling the 70mm from that Dude in Tennessee last Summer.
I remember he a couple of hundred rolls of the unperforated, mostly Kodak Portra 100, but a little Portra B&W.
From a school picture company he was helping clean out

And of course, Ilford is still making HP5+, but it is priced almost exactly like 120 price-point. But HEY it will give you 70mm firepower with absolutely the freshest HP5+. Not cheap but it is available consistently (once a year) from Ilford.

I shot eighteen test sheets of 4x5" in one day, in my Handy last year. Enough to make a run in my JOBO Multitank 5. Still need to develop them, let me tell you, they named this camera right. Mighty handy to shoot large format handheld, crowds swirling around, waiting for the right moment. When speediness is of the essence, it delivers period. Love this camera. Every time I take this out people come up to me and compliment me on this Baby.

You need a lot of film speed, 400 is OK, even faster works better. I shot HP5+ and will develop it in Ilford Microphen (a push developer) or maybe mix up a gallon of Acufine and Replenisher I have in the darkroom. Acufine is the only developer I know of that actually increases speed in the shadows. That's no Bull.

Things are progressing. Got some ideas for 70mm shoots, too. Waiting for spring!

These 70mm Graflex backs will go on any camera with a Graflock Back. Most 4x5s have Graflock backs.

I load the cassettes by hand in a changing bag.

Someone once told me to try developing XP2 in Rodinal. I haven't but I've seen the photos from XP2 in Rodinal and they look fine. C41 is easy and fast, so I stick with that method for any C41 film I shoot.

I've shot 70mm Rollei and developed it in Rodinal and really liked the results.

I regularly develop XP2 in HC110 with good results. Perhaps I should try that, if I ever manage to use this film. I think I have three rolls actually, double perforated. I see a 70mm back on the horizon 😀

I have a Watson 70 bulk film loader. They are quite rare, but I was lucky to find one after checking ebay every day for 8 months. It's a bit of luxury having one of these, it has even got a built in film cutter.

This was the initial build. It developed and evolved from here. This is a Sinar Norma Auxiliary Front Standard, to which I installed the wooden handle. I drilled and tapped the top mount (actually the frame is on it's side!) to fit a cold shoe.

The board is a Sinar Norma Handy board, made by Sinar exclusively for the chrome 65mm F8 Super Angulon. The lens cone/board/Schneider focusing helical is all one factory made piece. Schneider made these helicals for specific lenses, everything matches perfectly. The 65mm F8 -barely- covers 4x5 which is how I use it.

Cambo made wides (which came later) utilized the 47mm F5.6 Super Angulon if I remember correctly. That would be great for your uses.

The finder is for the 43mm Mamiya 7 lens. Great finder on this camera 🙂 Pistol Grip came from Ebay but the final one with cable release came from the Graflex XL.


If I were you I would study the various Cambo Wides and go from there.

Ok so I have found a lot of 70mm backs for mamiya RB/RZ and mamiya universal camera systems all new never used in boxes. All of them come with faulty suction bulbs. The bulbs themselves need replacing but other than that they work great.On the plus side I have never ever needed the suction bulb. The film is flat thanks so there is no need in replacing them If anyone is interested i am willing to trade them for 70mm film. Just PM me.
