I've been using the 85, 90, and 105 on the M8 lately for Spring flowers. I also used the 85/2 for an inside roller skating rink. The telephoto's focus down to 3ft, gives good close-ups for flowers. The 85/2 is fast enough and covers the distance to the action. I find that panning to catch the skaters is easier with the M8 as the viewfinder does not black-out during the exposure.

actually, I had pretty good time back in my SLR days with EOS1 + 85mm f/1.8... gives a bit of space and reach, but only really good for portraits and such, too compressed for isolation shots, despite gorgeous bokeh... not bad, bud I prefer 35 for RF 🙂

No! but as soon as I get the funds I hope to be carrying a 75/2.5 color heliar in my Bessa R kit. 35-50-75 should round out quite nicely I think!...Oh! I guess I might need a wee bit larger bag too!😉

Yep...you can have a great day with that combo. I think you will really enjoy the 75. It's a really nice lens.

I've mentioned this in other threads here, but my longtime kit was two Nikons (usually FE2s), one with a 35 and one with an 85. My current kit is an M6 with a 35 and an FE2 with an 85. It's nice to have both, but I often shoot with just the 35 or, more rarely, with just the 85. The 50 is by far the most challenging lens for me.

my CV 75/2.5 works nicely together with M8, and is nice walkabout lens. wont consider anything longer than that on crop sensor though.

The CV 75/2.5 was the first lens I used on the M9 for some (late) Fall color up the canyon. I never used it on the M8, nor do I often use 90mm on a film M, as the framelines are on the small side. Maybe a magnifying eyepiece would change that...

I do like 85mm on an SLR (and 165 or 200 on a P67). As was mentioned earlier, one's eyes can adjust to the angle of view, and then see picture possibilities suitable for the lens. Seeing the world a bit differently can be useful.
