90/4 Elmar Needs Fixing

So I wanted to relube the aperature ring on my Screwmount Elmar 90/4 because it was moving focus when I tried to change aperatures. I removed the two very small screws from the ring and unscrewed it, relubed it and re-screwed the ring down.

My problem is the two tiny screws will not go back into the holes fully. 😱 I see there is a hole in the metal under the aperature ring that moves the diaphragm/aperature where this tiny screw is supposed to fully lock into. The holes on the aperature ring will not coincide with these two holes below.

Is this clear? It somewhat difficult to explain the predicament. Any suggestions? I asked around for CLA prices but they are around $100 and the lens is pristine really beside the lubing of the aperature ring which I dared to do myself.

So what to do? If you all need I might be able to upload some digi photos of the problem to make it more clear.

On closer inspection I'm seeing there is a bit of metal blocking the screw from going through the aperature ring and into the corresponding hole underneath that opens and closes the diaphragm/aperature.

Thanks for the link. I just edited my original post to say the lens is a LTM/Screwmount not M mount doh!

Its a different beast altogether, but I'll look closely at the pnut post to see if there is anything I can get out of it.

Hi Mitch,
If you can post some pics, it might make everything a bit clearer but it shouldn't be too much of a problem to get it back together. You may havr not quite lined verything up correctly.

I found the problem. There was some metal washer type guard under the aperature ring that wasnt lined up properly. I stuck a pin in there and moved it a few times and what do you know the hole I was looking for showed up and now the screw fits in snugly. Now I just hope the aperature is adjusted correctly heh.

If the aperture reads f/4 when the lens is wide open, you've got it. I haven't seen one but its probably also possible to install upsidedown with the scale on the wrong side if there's only one.
