Great shot you could title it "Paying the Boatman" or something.
 
Here is a shot taken with the latest version of the 90mm Elmarit-M. The notes on the image correspond with the 100% crops. It shows the type of resolution the lens is capable of. This is a hand-held 'snap-shot' on Adox CMS 20 film. If I had used a tripod, release cable, etc., the result probably would have been better. Also, there is actually more information on the negative than in the scan. This is a straight scan with no processing done except for setting black and white points in Photoshop - absolutely no sharpening.

Wow that's very impressive. Did you scan at the highest resolution with the Coolscan?
 
I found that the Elmarit 90mm with the R-D1
makes it into a 135mm focal length. With a
right finder, the images are quite interesting.

I like this! I really like using a 90mm on my M3, and am very intrigued by this lens. It hard to find much information about it other than KR's review. It would be nice to hear about field use from someone who has been using it a while...

Great shots in the thread, love the portraits.

I missed the below post, sorry. I've now used the 90 Elmarit-M for a few years and like the focal length a lot. I also have a 75 Summicron but I just can't gel with that focal length (even though the lens gives great results).

From what I understand the 90 is a high performer optically and I'm never disappointed. Mine just returned from service because focus wide open was a bit off which made it unpredictable in use. I'm very happy it's returned.

I've read that the 90EM is at least as "good" as or maybe even a little bit better than the 90 pre-asph Summicron, which costs approximately the same. The lack of f2 may be a deal breaker for some of course. Only the current Summicron is (as expected of a much more modern lens) better optically. But it is much heavier and more expensive. The Summarits are probably a better bang for the money. In any event, in the settings I use 90mm I have never felt that f2.8 would be too slow. So all things considered (including the very pleasant focus throw which is neither too long nor too short) it's a cracking classical Mandler lens that I enjoy using.

This was taken from the top of the Kofel (1342m) in Oberammergau at a mid-range aperture. My development skills aren't the best but there's quite a lot of detail in the 2000dpi version of the photo.
