Leica is bigger than The Beatles.
In what country? the Beatles have even taken over this thread.
It's a German Car, plural...

Unfortunately, on 11/09/09 Vistek presents S2 in Toronto(can sign up on their web-site). However, there was a video on youtube back in 2008 and a guy took a tour across Leica factory in Solms. He was on the group meeting where they discussed upcoming M9. So I do not think Leica will come up with M9 this year. M8 is relatively young in Leica standards...

Oh, now you've put your foot in it. Can't you already smell those Leica manuals tossed into bonfires by offended Fab Four fans?Leica is bigger than The Beatles.

Indeed the beetle was German like the Leica, but moved to Mexico as well to other parts of the world. Is this going to be the fate of Leica in coming time?

What, Portugal and Canada don't count?![]()
I wasn't aware of Portugal & I thought only some of the lenses were made in Canada, but I'm no expert on these things, I was thinking more of the deal Leica has had with Panasonic & may eventually have all products made in Japan or Taiwan.

Leica would do well to license the song: "We love you, yeah, yeah, yeah!"

That's great, or Leica could start advertising & have a M-9 singing "I want to hold your hands"Leica would do well to license the song: "We love you, yeah, yeah, yeah!"

When do we start harassing all the people who said a full frame sensor on RF wasn't technical possible?

You don't. There were the same sort of strident can't be done voices when DX format was all you could get in DSLRs. If a FF M9 does appear that should be humble pie enough for all the nay sayers.

Nobody said that. Not even Leica said it. The summary from those who know/knew what they are talking about is/was this: using the full frame sensor from a DSLR (with at least 50% greater flange/sensor distance) was and is not possible without totally unacceptable software corrections. New sensors were/are needed. Kodak indicated that these would be possible. So did Leica. But just stuffing a Nikon or Canon sensor in from any previously existing SLR was and is in defiance of the laws of physics.
Stop and think for a moment. If it had been possible, why would Leica have taken the route they did, with a small sensor and inadequate IR filtration? Would they do it out of sheer spite?
Insh'Allah, it's come sooner than many of us expected it.

Has it? And what changes did they have to make to the M body to make it happen? So far word from Leica of an M9 is as rare as an actual raw file from an S2.

Note "Insh'Allah", a wonderful word meaning anything from 'God willing' to 'Yeah, right'.
As (I think) Jaapv said, rumours have been managed.

I'm kind of late to the party. Now is it certain that there's a ff M9?

There's always two options:
(A) Get all worked up about what might or might not happen in 11 days time
(B) Wait 11 days, it's not like these days make a difference at all for anybody
I wonder why so many of you guys choose option (A). On the losing side option (A) raises your blood pressure and increases the possibility of disappointment if there's no announcement on September 9, or if you don't get what you were thinking of. On the winning side, all option (A) does is to give you minimal "I told you so eleven days ago" bragging rights.

A Leica version of the new Panasonic GF-1 would be tantamount to a CL-D. Considering Panny announcing in early September AND IF Leica co-brands one THEN I wouldn't be shocked to see a relatively affordable digi-Leica that uses ALL exisitng Leica lenses.

But it's not a rangefinder.

The EVF will have a ghost image. When the images are coincident the little green light will flash. Ostensibly this is what occurs when you MF a lens on an AF body though you do not see the ghost image - only the sensor reads the info. So, in effect it is an AF Rangefinder. When I read the original Leica announcement I think it spoke of the future, not of dwelling in the past. Would removing the superimposition of an image negate the Leica connection? Not using film seems not to have.
