I want to try something just a little bit wider for my Bessa. My Jupiter 3 (not a perfect lens, but I like the pictures it gives me) is good for almost everything, but sometimes in close quarters, it wouldnt hurt to have a 35. I also think wider lenses take more skill to use, so I think I am ready for the challange (after exclusivly using a 50 for almost half a year now).

I think that a 1.7 Ultron is a sure bet, but Im not sure if I want to spend that much money at the moment, so I wanted to ask if there are any vintage 35mm lenses that are a little bit more affordable (I would ideally want something around F2). If there arent, the Ultron would probably be a good investment anyway since I hear that its a great lens, but in that case I would have to wait a little bit before spending the money.

I wish the Jupiter 12 could fit the bessa, just so that I could play around with the 35mm focal length...

I hear the cannon 35/2 is hard to find/expensive.

I had the Skopar over the summer, but didnt really like it. It was a bit too contrasty, I didnt really like how it looks (shallow, I know) and I wouldnt mind something a tad faster (though 2,5 isnt bad at all). I might still pick up another one, but I would also like to try something new.

A Canon 35mm f2.8 is the least expensive vintage 35mm lens that I can think of. (about $120-150) The J12 is the real deal, but as you know, it doesn't fit the R (and many other RF's.)

Oh, thats another thing I wanted to ask. Can anybody campare the size of the ultron to the Jupiter 3 (which is just a touch bigger than the Jupiter 8)?

Hi,
Compared with the 1.5 Nokton, the J3 is minute. I have been looking at the ultron and the photos on the Camerquest site would indicate it is about the same size as the Nokton. I can post a comparison between the 2 50's if you want.
