Not really a RF lens, but just want to shout out to see if anyone in UK may know or his /her friend of friend may know where I can get this lens repaired and serivced to its original glory. :angel:
The German seller found his father's asset from the basement and put it on eBay. Yet he took a very careless way on packaging and had the aperture ring/ iris damaged (loosed). :bang:
The seller denied responsibility.
Having been an eBay seller myself for many years trouble free, I never thought it could be a nasty experience like this.
Here I cite the actual email I wrote to the seller.
... I believe the way of packaging caused damages to this very precise equipment. On opening the box, I notice the lens was put into the pouch, loosely covered by a flimsy plastic bag ‘Gelbe Sack’. Next to the pouch, there are four pieces of ‘AKTIV’ newspaper, tossed and loosely filled the gap in a bid to prevent movement in transport. Adding salt to the injure, you even included a pack of fixing screws in the package. See pic 1:

What happened I believe is, the precise aperture iris (blades) have been damaged by excessive movement. The aperture ring can turn but cannot change the iris according to the setting. Gently shake the lens, you can hear some loosing parts are moving inside. See picture 4/5. The aperture is set to F2 –the blades should be fully open, but in fact it is . If you turn the aperture ring, the iris do not changed.

My heart feels like crying. One of the most legendary lens and your father’s precious collection has been damaged just because your carelessness. It is sold for near 400 euros and is not to be treated like this.
My local specialist said it got go back to Japan, estimated £100 or more.
CZ Germany said they stopped servicing it for ages.

No way should you keep this lens and pay for the repqir. It is obvious that the seller did'nt package it correctly. Did you have insurance on this item? How did you pay for it - if throuhg Paypal you should start a dispute process and get your money back. If you paid by credit card, inform your card company and have them reverse the transaction. This is un-acceptable. Don't let this German "Sturkopf" get away with this!

OMG thats aweful! I had an ebayer ship me a Nikkor 50 1.2 and he just tossed it in a padded envelope. Glad it worked when I got it, but it could have been worse.
He said he thought it should be ok because it had a lens cap.

Patrick, the aperture/stop-down lever works fine, not the aperture ring though. it just won't control the blades - have tried this both on/off camera.
I did report it to paypal, and am still waiting for the outcome. It seemed that paypal made contact with the seller on phone. Paypal didn’t contact me though. Now the promised resolution time passed.
The seller seemed like trying to gloss around by claiming it was 'accurately described' in the pitch. - Because 'when you turn it, it clicks' (original in German words). But it not the ‘click’ now, it is 'when you shake it gently, there are loosely/moving parts you can feel in the barrel.
I hope paypal case worker can spot the different.
