A few pics from my first 2 rolls thru an Oly Trip 35

I very recently found one thru a local classified. Could hardly wait to put 2 rolls through. Most were my family shots, so I won't bore you to tears with them. These few were from a night market where I stopped for late dinner with my mate.

I was blown away by the quality of the pics, and I hadn't even got familiar with the focusing on this camera yet. It's now my favorite street shooter, and has inspired me to hunt down some more of Oly fixed lens beauty.

Very good! I've said it before that Oly Trip 35 is a fantastic take-it-everywhere camera. It's small and unobtrusive and the meter is usually surprisingly accurate given that it's not battery powered.

Your photos make me want to visit Bangkok again. It's my favourite big city. Btw. your noodle soup looks delicious.

nice low light shots!!

I thought that the trip would not let the shutter trip if the light is too low. What settings...or adjustments did you have to make......(unless you used flash)

I didn't do anything, nor did I use flash. All these pics were shot in the fully automatic (A) mode.

Apparently the available light was sufficient for ISO 400 film. It was a roll of Kentmere 400.

There's one thing you can try if there's not enough light for the A-mode and you have no flash. Simply dial the aperture manually to f:2.8, the Trip will then use 1/60 sec. shutter speed. Shoot and hope for the best 🙂

Would be nice! Be aware that April 13 is our national holiday. It's the Thai New Year (Songkran in Thai). It's the one day of the year that people can throw water at complete strangers. If we want to go out to take photo, water proofing is ESSENTIAL! 😀

It is amazing what this little camera is capable of. Although I am a great fan of Konica (obviously) and FSU gear, I do have on of those Trips in my collection and it gets exercised several times a year. Only a pity that the prices have gone so high on the Bay. you have to find them in flea markets and second hand stores these days not to get ripped off.

Akarin, your shots are very encouraging to me. I have a trip due to arrive in a few days and didn't know what to expect out of it, so thanks. The other little Oly's I've tried (35SP and RD) are also pretty great and can be found cheaply with a little luck. My SP was only ten bucks.

I'm glad to inform you that your investment in used cameras is doing just fine. The Oly 35 SP in good appearance is worth €150 in Europe. The RD is worth between €100-150 these days.

When I bought my Trip 35 two years ago you could easily get CLA'd one for €30. These days a non-CLA'd camera is worth €40-50.

Thanks guys. I was really pleasantly surprised by the relative image quality. Unfortunately, I paid a bit more for my trip than $10, but I still feel that it is worth every penny. When it comes to these sorts of thing, my mind is focused more on what things are worth to me, and less on the market price.

Maybe that's one of the reasons I'm not a millionaire (yet) ;-)

Do be careful, they can be addictive.

We started counting the cameras a couple of years ago and found we had 5 or 6 Trips; sold most off to a dealer in bulk and then woke up one morning and found I'd bought another one (for £2 as I felt sorry for it). Then had to get it serviced and overhauled but, luckily for us in the UK, there's lots of specialists about and (with return postage) mine cost £24 to be done.

FWIW, have a look for an Olympus 35 ED which are similar in size but have a coupled range-finder and a D-Zuiko f/2.8 38mm lens. The shutter etc is always in "P" mode but it has the "Flashmatic" system fitted. At present they seem to be sleepers and can be found dirt cheap. I don't need to mention the lens quality, do I?
