A few thoughts on the f0.95 Noctilux

I don't know what you are seeing, but I feel very much the opposite. The f/1 is harsh; the f/.95 basically looks large-format smooth, to me.

Here again, just a personal preference. And also wondering if the difference between the two lenses was worth the additional expense. One thing I do now recall that I appreciate about the 0.95 vs the f/1 is that the focus 'throw' is much less than the f/1 (at least the example that I had).

And as I mentioned in regards to the 0.95, I have to remind myself that there are other aperture settings on this lens than just the wide open ones. Also not relying on those out-of-focus areas as just another visual gimmick -- that's something that I'm also trying to be aware of. I'll be the first to admit that at times it takes over, and I'm trying to improve upon keeping it in check. Ah well -- learning takes place in many forms, and sometimes old habits die hard.
