After all the hype I am ashamed to admit a smile crossed my face, schadenfreude is it? when it emerged that the M8’s shutter makes an odd noise, I’ve read so many posts where the Leica faithful have used shutter noise to assert their brand’s superiority over others I couldn’t help it, sorry

Don't worry, it is a well known fact that REAL photographers prefer the slam-bang-ratta-tat of a dslr..Sparrow said:After all the hype I am ashamed to admit a smile crossed my face, schadenfreude is it? when it emerged that the M8’s shutter makes an odd noise, I’ve read so many posts where the Leica faithful have used shutter noise to assert their brand’s superiority over others I couldn’t help it, sorry
Actually, one needs a fine-tuned ear to hear anything un-Leicaesque in the M8 shuttersound, it did not bother me in the least. It was almost as quiet as any film M. The rewind sound is no more than the long exposure whirr on my M3.

Perhaps you are lucky and it's just others who were offended by it have higher developed sensibilities

I regularly use a Bronica GS-1.
You people have NO IDEA what a loud shutter is!

I got rid of my Rolls because of the irritating noise the damn clock made.

You need the Mk IV with the brass chassis English leaver clock, that has a reputation for the most refined tick. Of course you have to be very very cultured to appreciate ittkluck said:I know what you mean!

Or maybe I have fired the thing a couple of dozens of times and they have been listening to wav files at unspecified volume..Sparrow said:Perhaps you are lucky and it's just others who were offended by it have higher developed sensibilities
Well, with a nom de plume like yours, you can hardly be popular yourself....ffttklackdedeng said:Don't blame the Leica faithful, Stewart. Religious things are sometimes .. strange![]()

I’m sure to the fully developed ear could be offended as easily by the .wav as the reality, in any event they were actually at the show I understand
