She has a bit of "football shoulders", facing almost full-on to the camera. It makes her look wide, which is not always a desirable effect. One can create a confident look without both shoulders confronting the camera.

about the messy hair. I have to agree. It was a bit windy and we didnt have an assistant for hair and make up.

the upper arms and neckless lead ones eye to the face well, it's a shame the ties on the waistcoat were not tied loosely as they drag my eye down and out of the frame, not a biggie it still looks good

I actually like the lower contrast, Nico, nice mellow colors, good on the skin.

I do think you cropped a bit too much though. And, on your flickr stream, you have shots of the same model, that I like better.

It's over sharpened, has too little contrast and to be honest, the whole setup and pose looks very generic. I'd say give it another try.

the success of posed portraits often depends on every last detail being just so. i don't mean that the process has to be extremely laborious, but rather that it's mostly luck.

The picture did come out large on my screen, so much so that I didn't see the bottom half to start with. And I particularly liked that top half. When I did see the complete photo I found that the detail of the shorts drew my attention as much as the girl's face and I wasn't happy about that. What do you think about just the top half and the format then being rather different?
The photo might be improved with the girl slightly further away from the wall, and or with her body slightly turned. But its all might be. Incidentally what was she looking at? I get the impression she wasn't looking into your eye but a bit lower.
If the model is prepared to pose again I would certainly want to photograph her. Have another session and see what happens. As someone else said there is an element of luck involved. Please keep posting.

Hallo,

der Schatten auf der rechten, unteren Gesichtshälfte lässt das Gesicht unsymmetrisch wirken. vielleicht hättest du aus dieser Richtung noch einen Reflektor einsetzen sollen.
Ansonsten gefällt mir das Portrait sehr gut, vor allem die Farbgebung.
