This is a funny story I want to tell you.

Once upon a time I bought a non-functional OM Motor Drive for very cheap.

I repaired it, but had no use for it, so I listed it here for trade.

A RFF member from the same town where I live offered me a non-functional OM-1 to trade for the Motor Drive.

I told to my self: Why not?

The OM-1 had stuck slow-speed escapement. I had to remove the mirror box to get to it... I tell you, I have never been this deep in a camera before until now. (see attached picture)

Fortunately I managed to put it back together and now all speeds work just fine.

Look at the beaten beauty :) (second attached picture).

I'm happy :D

Thank you zuikomatt

That's awesome. Last time I pulled an SLR apart for something like that it ended up in a skip. :D

joe: I have quite a collection of glass myself ( http://flickr.com/photos/ondrej_p/237542744/ )

But this camera is going to my younger brother. He has an EOS digital at the moment, and I'm sure he'll enjoy this little brassy brick.

He's getting a 50/1.8 for it, and I'll sell him my Sigma 28 and maybe Zuiko 135.

And thanks for the praise to you all :)

Fortuantely I had the manuals and articles from http://olympus.dementia.org/Hardware/ that helped me a lot when disassembling and reassembling.

PS: I can't wait to get me the CV 25/4 and OM-2 I'm buying from zuikomatt next week :D

PS: Anyone here who has a OM spare parts body? I need a self-timer lever and the screw that attaches it to the body...

I have to say, that I was very suprised, how deep are Ondrej's knowledges about technical issues regarding OM and RF cameras + his real abbility to service and repair cameras = he could be serviceman for us in this part of world:).
Of course, I think, he has probably another ambition's in his live, but I can recommend him anyway:)

I'd rather not. I attempted this repair only because
1.) I acquired it cheap
2.) I had nothing to lose
3.) it was fun :)

repairing someone else's camera means also responsibility and I'm not ready for this. Only hopeless cases :D

Nevertheless I try to give anyone my best advices whenever I can...
