A Hasselblad, more than 40 years after first looking.

I don’t think I added these ones to this thread — the first two were with my Super Wide (SW) and HP5 a few months back. I felt somewhat inspired by Bill Brandt’s portraits using the Super Wide C that I thought I’d try my hand at it.

One of a fellow RFF member in New Mexico! With the 1000f, 80/2.8 Opton-Tessar and HP5. Had to stand on the furniture in the coffee shop to get this one.

As I head towards sixty, nearly there, weight is an issue, as in how much I weigh and how much the kit I carry weighs, I am starting to think regarding thinning out the collection, this summer I plan to shoot with my Rolleis against my 500CM, usage, weight , ergonomics of the carry etc, eventually one system may go

Frank appears to have a very skeptical look on his face. Perhaps you had just proposed he undertake another of your crackpot camera modifications? ;)
Actually now that you mention it, I did bring a box of cameras things for him that day: A Leica IIIa ‘Lutz-Ferrando’ with a Summar lens, a film back for my Bronica S2, and my Philippe Tiranty Verographe. Always the weird stuff, but thankfully he’s glad I don’t subject him to the Hasselblads. I save those for another equally-tolerant repair guru.

Mike, one thing I found helped me a bunch was to no longer carry my cameras around my neck. I’ve taken to using longer camera straps and wearing them ‘cross-body’ style. It completely takes the weight off my neck and makes a heavier camera a lot easier to carry around. Of course compared to something like a Bronica S2 the Hasselblad is light as a feather :)

At age 71, I hear you! So what are my two most recent camera purchases? A Bronica S2A and a Rollei 6006, both massive beasts. Obviously, there is something deeply irrational going on here...

Love your Sudek kitchen sketches Vince. You’ve kept this thread alive, drawn more users in, including X-Ray’s photos now and various bits of wisdom on the continued viability of a 500C/M in amateur hands (Retro-Grouch), or even older Hassies -you! I finally finished a roll to be developed this week. Took the camera for a walk mounted on the monopod, carried in the hand, and over the shoulder. Took one shot. But it’s a different walk with that camera. So far my only repair in five years is the Distagon 60 3.5 with three other lenses requiring only the replacement of a front lens cap.

Many thanks Richard - I do have to point out that since I've committed to posting in your thread, I've let the 907x thread fall by the wayside -- ah well. All been worth it :)

Another one of Jeff from our breakfast on Friday. 1000f, 80/2.8 Tessar and Ilford HP5.

I should be taking delivery of my 1600f later this week or early next week -- it's a 1951 example that's being adapted to take the CFV II 50C digital back. I'll still be able to shoot film with it, but only with backs from 1955 onwards. Looking forward to mating the earliest Hasselblad with one of the latest!
