Hopefully, I'll sell off the stuff myself before I go belly up. The Zeiss-Ikons are the last to go.
Canons go first -- all one of them. Then the Minolta, then Pentax, followed by Agfa and Voigtlanders.
Maybe I'll take my Zeiss-Ikons and Rolleiflexes with me!

uff... i'm seriously trying to find reasons not to get rid of my manual focus minolta slr stuff... a good one (i suppose) is that i'd get such a low price for it that it's not worth the effort...

I can see selling off the cameras when film is either hard to locate or no longer available. I've given some serious thought to unloading my 110's, 126's, plastic Kodaks of various obsolete film sizes, toy cameras, and even a couple of my TLR's, but the RF's, scale focus, and SLR's stay till either I can't afford to eat or no longer need to eat. LOL. Taffer, I know only too well the low price of SLR's now, I just bought a Mamiya ZE-2 Quartz for $25.00 Can. and three Canon SLR's (AE1, AE1 Program, AV1)+ a Pentax ME for $60.00 Can. (and an Argus SLR just for kicks for $13 US). Don't worry, the RF's are well represented too since I bought a Yashica YK in mint shape for $10 Can., a Balda Baldessa for $10 US and a Yashica Electro for $5 US. If I run out out room or the wife runs out of patience, can I come live with you? LOL. Curt in Canada.

Hi Joe,
Luckily for me, I've been home from work for 7 months now with back/nerve problems so I've had oodles of time to scour the local pawn shops, Salvation Army stores, Cash Converters, Black's Camera Stores, yard/estate sales, and auctions. Unluckily for me, a lot of that time has been spent unable to walk more than 1/4 mile or so, flat on my back or at appointments for every test known to man. Kind of a win/lose type situation, but I've had tons of time to use many of my oldies and find several flaws that needed fixing.
This past week, I walked right past a Konica Autoreflex A in the original never ready case at the Salvation Army store. The fellow behind me scooped it. Price was $0.99 Can. Life's not fair. I asked him if he was buying it to use and he said no, just gonna get a good buck for it on E**y. Bought the Mamiya, the Yashica YK and a Fujica 35 FS from an old fellow at his yard sale. Only the Fujica turned out to be a dud. A friend had given me an identical Mamiya last year with shutter troubles so now I have one good one and one parts camera. Same day I stopped at the pawn shop and bought a Mamiya 50 f2 for $10.00 since I already had two f1.7's from the cameras. This summer has been pretty good so far. Also bought a Minolta Freedom Zoom 90 from a St. Vincent de Paul store for $1.50 (another found film story) and a Minolta freedom Memory Maker ll for $1.50 at a Legion yard sale. Tomorrow is time for Black's as they're clearing out their used cameras this week. Never know...
Under the bridge would be a fine place to live as long as I can fit all my goodies. P.S. Forgive me, I traded my only Kiev for a Yashica FS-1 to a friend who also has my former Contax ll. Is it ok if I bring my Feds, Zorkis (zorkiis?) and Mir instead? LOL.

well curt, while i'm envious of all your spare time i'm not jealous of the reason. i've had a 'bad back' for years but not on the same scale as you. i've gotten to know my chiropracter really well and am always fighting the battle of the bulge to help keep my back muscles where they are supposed to be.
as for those deals, i never seem to run into them when i visit pawn shops or goodwill stores. but as i am wont to say, if it weren't for bad luck i'd have no luck at all!!
on the other hand, i have no real reason to complain either. i have a very nice collection of rf cameras that i havn't spent all that much on.
now, if i could only find a mint contax ll for a couple of bucks...

The problem is that it looks like junk when it is listed like this. I suspect that the seller could make 2x to 3x times the money by taking the time to sell it correctly. The Leica "Focaslide" is described as a cone shaped thing. If anyone sells my stuff off like this when I am gone, I will come back to haunt them. My wife knows to call Penn camera if I kick and sell the items on consignment.

Actually around 1500 isn't a bad price for that lot, broken down and resold I'm sure it's worth a bit more. Roughly estimated, the cameras and lenses are worth about that so the teleconverters, drives, and accessories would be freebies. Now let's see how much those filters go for...

so you're after a classic eh ?
well, not surely for a couple of bucks, but there are some not that expensive deals on contax II bodies from time to time on e*ay. of course the more modern IIa and IIIa won't be so 'cheap' but they look like the 'creme de la creme'.
anyway if you want to try them, i'd recommend you going for a (hehehe, how not) kiev. i got recently a just serviced early 1950 kiev II from Oleg and must try a real contax II someday just to compare, 'cos the quality of materials on this kiev is really HIGH and it operates as soft as warm butter.
still under $100, but i've seen real contax II out there in the bay going for not too much more, even though they'll probably need a cla... and Oleg is going to stop his repair services
a couple of hundred favorites ? you must have a hard time deciding which one to take out for a shooting day

Hi Oscar,
When I had my Contax ll, (even with broken shutter curtain ribbon the shutter would fire about half way) the shutter felt virtually identical to my Kiev 3 (not sure if it was an "a" or not, had the UGLY meter up top). Same smooth feel, no harsh clunk. The only difference I could see was the Contax had the infamous Zeiss bumps, but the Kiev had a cheaper type covering and several bumps everywhere. Also the Kiev chrome looked a bit different.
As far as deciding what camera to take out shooting that's pretty easy, I have a supply of about 10-15 rolls of film sitting here at any one time. At night i look through my goodies, see which one I don't recall using in a long time (or just received from E**y) then throw film in two cameras for the next day. As I've been home for months now, I've had a great deal of shooting days, only real restriction being the amount of walking I can do on the shooting day. Fair weather, time of day etc. doesn't really matter much to me as the shots are primarily to compare sharpness of the lens and get my lazy butt out for some exercise. Good deal for me lately was on developing. My local store had a supply of 200 speed film which they were giving away free with 1 hour developng. Free roll included free three day developing, so in effect I got a free roll, developing and pictures for each roll I brought in. I still have 6 rolls with free developing yet. Rainy/cloudy today but you can bet I'll be out there anyway. Take care, Curt in Canada.

Good way to give good use to all them, my 'problem' is once I start a roll I prefer to finish it as soon as possible (which in my case is around two weeks, go figure!) so if I did it that way some rolls could be stored for months on some cameras...
That's a pretty good deal with the lab you have there!, there used to be those kind of offers here some years ago, but now you can almost consider yourself lucky if they say hello. I used to bring my rolls to the local lab where they already knew me well (not too many people brought 120 rolls, I guess) but as I spend most of my time in the city (Barcelona) it's easier to leave them in the central Fotoprix lab and get them a couple of days later on my way to/from work.
[BTW the Kiev II is beating me in the head claiming to be used... would have to park the Olympus soon, that Ukranian chrome really hurts ! ]
