A lot of really cool cameras are for sale by posters with 50 or less posts, many less than 15. I am not stating this to be paranoid that strangers are trying unload cameras on RFF'ers but strangers are trying to unload cameras on RFF'ers. Not necessarily a bad thing.

While I do post I tend to read a lot more than post, so does that make me dishonest?

I see zero correlation between posts and people selling items.

good grief!!............as far as cameras, I have enough except a nice MF. I just need to shoot more. That means more film!...yes! I need more film.

I have too many cameras but not enough lenses for my bessa so i have my canonet up for trade now. I wish i could afford that R-d1 thats in the classifieds now

Beemerark,

There no 100% direct correlation between new members or low posting number and less than honest sellers, but there is a reasonable amount of more than anecdotal evidence where folks who fit that pattern are less than customer focused.

I think my learned friend from FLA is pointing out there are some great cameras and stuff on the board of late. Producing a lot of GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome that feels very much like a gas build up in human bodies) in many of us.

Chill out Akiva.

Is anyone forcing you to buy?

Richard, you have the coolest frigging Avatars, and I rate sellers by the question, "Name two looks that Richard has shown".

If they can only name one, then they are disqualified, unless what they are selling is truly cool stuff I really do not need, but want.

Hell, with the money worth nothing, and the economy everywhere in the Loo, neat equipment seems truly as rational as anything.

When I cash out, look for the yard sale, it should be a good one.

Regards, John

I waited and waited for an ED-1 in the 1000 to 1400 dollar range and it never showed up so I bought an M6. Now there's two for sale. I'm a bit twitchy buying from low number posters so I probably would have still waited. I'm not judging anyone, just being cautious.

Not necessarily.

Actually you love it.

Then why talk of "paranoia" and unloading".

After reading your post, I checked a few out. They had references and good feed back.

Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean someone's not out to get me. ;) Chill, Richard, it's an amusing observation, that's all.

one recent experience:
One item on the classified, extremely sweet deal, like new, half price, completely new registrated member. I asked for details, and got an answer: "no paypal, I've recently have been burnt etc". I ask for reference...no answer...
That doesn't mean anything, but we should be careful.

Just because its on the classifieds doesn't mean you have to buy it :)

Remember a couple of months back a completely new user came on with an incredible deal on two M3s and a whole bunch of Leica lenses. I asked for detailed pictures of the stuff, and the guy was reluctant to provide them... Perhaps it wasn't a scam, but it was pretty suspicious in my books. If its too good to be true, it probably is.
