A new approach to raising funds.

As you know, I have been thinking of ways to raise funds in order to run RFF. I have tried the hats, been thinking about a calendar which will probably happen and have been listening to member suggestions. So without really changing anything about the way you interact with the forum, I have come up with the following.

A premium subscription to the RFF gallery. This would be $25.00 for the year. It will allow uploads of 20 photos per day and increase the file size to 350K per image. To subscribe, simply click on your control panel (User CP) and near the bottom left you will see a link for Paid Subscriptions. Follow the link and you can pay via PayPal. You do not even have to be a PayPal member to do so.

You can also follow this link:

Thanks for your understanding.

I think it is a great idea, but perhaps a subscription fee for all users would be in order as well. Not that I want to cough up the do-re-mi, but fair is fair - I could easily do without the gallery. And you might recall a couple members who get rather testy if they can't upload photos. If you're taking their money to let them upload, then they'll actually have a right to complain.

Good luck no matter what you decide to do!

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

I think this is a good idea. Some questions...

1)Will it be noted under the user's avatar whether you are a premium member or not? Other forums I participate in note this level of membership for all to see.

2)Other forums I participate also limit some level of the classifieds to paid members, that is to list in classified you must be a paid member, but anyone can buy from the classifieds.

Once some more generic ebay items sell this week, and my paypal account fills up, I will be signing up (my wife gives me free reign over my paypal account! 😀 ). I have only been on RFF a few weeks and I have gotten more than $25 worth of info already.

Yes, your title will change unless you have a custome title. Classifieds are open to all members 🙂

$25 good for me i just subscribed 🙂

As soon as I have $25 actually in my bank account, I'll subscribe. . . . I hope lots of people do subscribe so that there is enough money to really do things as well as possible. More bandwidth. . . .

Just paid $25 over paypal. Great idea and happy to support the site.

(Even though I just paid I think the limit could be even 'stricter' - say a gallery upload limit of 3 photos/week for non-subscribers and 10/week for subscribers - not unusual on many sites).

Hope you'll see a lot of subscribers!

Can you guys log of and back on again? I want to make sure your new group allows you on without any issues. I just did witha test account and had no problems but bmattock seems to have an issue now.

Thanks

JT

Hello Jorge,

What do you know, it works!
When I finally decide which scanner to buy, I will post some photos.
In the meantime, thanks for all of your hard work making the RFF a fun place to visit!

Cheers,
kf

I think that a subscription fee, although a sad thing to come along, is also probably a very nice thing as well. It will feed the site - necessary as we have seen in recent weeks - and it will. . . .well, you know.

and I don't think people should be allowed to post for sale items in the gallery . . . .I know that's not related to this thread. Forgive me.

Jorge,

When I revisit my bookmark, a message saying; "Error, Invalid Home Module" appears?
