Will someone tell ray_g that many of us "sneak in" the occassional SLR pic and even, very rarely (of course) a digital image?

I approach this RF pic requirement like I used to do with going to church* (or, if you prefer synagouge or mosque or temple etc.). Some are "hard core followers of the straight and narrow path" others of us sometimes "wander astray, regretting our transgressions to be sure, but never being so abashed that we don't do it again once and a while."! 😀

*Oh, I solved that problem, now I just don't even think about going! 😉

A new approach to raising funds.

As you know, I have been thinking of ways to raise funds in order to run RFF. I have tried the hats, been thinking about a calendar which will probably happen and have been listening to member suggestions. So without really changing anything about the way you interact with the forum, I have come up with the following.

A premium subscription to the RFF gallery. This would be $25.00 for the year. It will allow uploads of 20 photos per day and increase the file size to 350K per image. To subscribe, simply click on your control panel (User CP) and near the bottom left you will see a link for Paid Subscriptions. Follow the link and you can pay via PayPal. You do not even have to be a PayPal member to do so.

I guess I'm one of the straight and narrow. I only upload RF images. The one time I uploaded a digital, I announced it in the comments and took it down the next day. I come here for RF images and figure others do too, so, whereas I've never been accused, or confused for a highly religious person, I guess I abide by the Golden Rule. 🙂 It was nice of you to confess though, George! Now, who gets to assign penance for your sins? 🙂 🙂

Ray, I tend to agree with you; this is, after all, the rangefinder forum. But I admit to one SLR shot in my gallery, and there are several others that would not qualify if we excluded viewfinder cameras not having an actual RF. Likewise, If I actually made any decent pics with my Canon PowerShot G3... using the optical viewfinder and with the LCD folded away... I wouldn't hesitated to upload them. This is where it gets dicey, and where I sense RFF is "inclusive." We don't want to exclude digital, I think, if the cameras can be considered (how loosely?) rangefinders, and certainly include the R-D1. But I'd encourage members to concentrate on RF pics in the gallery (and I prefer to comment on only those) and not to upload lots of SLR TLR and dSLR shots.

Thanks to the tech info, repair helps, links, etc. information posted, personally PM'd and emailed, I have saved waaaaay more than $25 by joining RFF.

Plus, I get to see on a daily basis, more cat avatars than Whiskers-R-Us.com ... AND... I get to hang out with guys who are tickled pink to pay more for shipping costs than they do for their cameras!! My kinda guys!

AND... We've got joe, FrankS, darkkavenger, raid, brent .... and Mattocks! C'mon, now. Tell the truth. Where else can you get that kind of [legal] entertainment online for 25 zoids? heh?

You e-mail me your best pics. If I like them, I'll upload them to my enhanced Gallery.

If they (errr...how shall I put this....oh, yes....if they suck) I won't!

That way, your best pics get onto the Gallery w/o you needing to get "enhanced" and the only "price" is that I get the credit!!! 😎

Yep. You raised valid points in the past about payment, Joe. With payment, unfortunately, comes entitlement, or at least a sense thereof. That not only applies to the gallery, but in general to an expectation of "special treatment" for lack of a better phrase. Not to offend anyone, but you can already sense it in this thread.

For posting content please visit the FAQ section which can be seen by clicking the drop down list near`the top left menu.

Paying gallery members can upload RF or SLR content. However, please add them to the OTHER gallery which I will set up. Members who have upgraded to the premium membership will have access to the "OTHER" gallery. At least this way we can keep them separated.

Sorry, Jorge, but I'm left feeling frustrated. Searching the FAQ on "gallery" brings up nothing. Searching on "upload" brings up nothing. Searching "posting content" brings up nothing relating to the gallery. The discussion about attachements specifies no content restrictions. The vBulletin FAQ also contains no reference to the gallery.

If the "OTHER" gallery is for premium members only, then it's an elite gallery and divides the membership. Bad idea IMHO.

How about "Sustaining Member" or "Enhanced" or "Donor" or "Subscriber".

Goodness, why do we have to have so much darned "levelling" here all the time?
