However, I do not think it was ever intended that "subscriber" titles created anything other than a small acknowlegment. And in fact, because I prefer to use a custom title, I don't even have "subscriber" or whatever under my user name!

I don't even want to be a "subscriber". I was just helping out with paying the bills!

I wish I could keep up with all this nonsense, but I am going to read the 'test of 5 lmt lenses' instead.

I am still with hoot on this one, and think that people who have the membership should have some kind of badge or something next to the user name so that new users would know that there are ways to support the site if they feel so inclined. Whatever though, I dont care, I will help out when I can.

Sent payment today.I am unlikely to use the Gallery,and I have only been using the site for 3 months,but I have more than covered the cost in information received,and knowledge gained even in that short time!
After all I have recently been able to strip the top off a Fed 2 ,and have cleaned and adjusted the v/f and r/f,and I would never have dreamt of even attempting this without this Site and the friendly support of other contributors.
This is one satisfied Member.

First of all I think I have no problem transfering 25$, I think keeping up a site like this deserves it (not that I like most content of this site much) But Jorge must put in a hell of a lot of time to maintain this. He has also proven to be trustworthy and correct in all this.
I respect the general buisnessplan, --- start a site/free --- attract punters --- advertising --- contribution --- etc. It's the way it goes, and it's smart. For 25$ I get my fair share of entertainment, information and aggrivation.... where do you get a years subscription of a magazine that gives you all that ?

I don't need a marker/sign/remark behind my nick to establish the fact that I actually am a "paying subscriber" I can afford it and would be most happy to pay for other people that aren't able to.

And then again this thread contributes exactly what the communinity represent today, no... sorry what the world represents today, a load of whingers and whiners, a load of "count me in I am important" sort of people, and a load of normal laid back easy going sort of folk.... ( count me in with the whingers and whiners!)

Hope this all goes well for Jorge.... I would however like a couple extra (liberally minded) moderators, and now your raking the money in you will be able to afford them yourself .... (below the belt, for which I am sorry)

Personally, I think this thread and the attitude of concern over any tier of members is rather crazy and childish.

I contributed and posted that I did so, not for any sort of recognition but rather to support this sight which I enjoy "WHEN WE DISCUSS PHOTOGRAPHY AND RF CAMERAS".

AFAIAC the premium gallery, title, etc... is of no importance. Keeping this sight functioning and improving the recent access/speed issues are. If by contributing $25 towards this cause helps this effort, then I/we did well.

If you don't want to or can't contribute now, that is fine also.

Let us all remember that this site is privately owned and we are here because the owner enjoys supporting our discussions, ideas, creativity, and has a love for photography. It is his right to do as he pleases with this site. Rather than second guess his every move, I would conjecture his offering of a little more gallery space is his way of saying thank you for helping vs. any sort of classification/structure to the membership. Leave it to the mods discretion for control of any member who gets out of hand because they think they have a special dispensation due to their donation. I would suspect that they will quickly find out, that they do not.

Lets say thank you to Jorge for having this site, the mods for assisting in its upkeep, and go back to enjoying photography.

The odd thing is that in the end - this form of fund raising may prove self-defeating.

A few months or a year from now, after all the smoke has cleared from this rocky introduction - the "premium" of additional Gallery space will actually only appeal to members (old and new) who value the Gallery for posting pics.

Members without any interest in the Gallery will not be "incentivized" to contribute if the only "perceived benefit" is one they do not value. 🙁

I plan on donating very soon. I have pics in the gallery, though probably wont need to or have enough pics to post 20 day. Its a small enough amount that it ownt hurt the wallet and for all the time spent on the rrf its well worth it as long as its going to be put to good use, which I dont doubt.
