A really refreshing street photography

There is too much of "him" in his photos. Its like his giggling and pointing finger at those situations.

I assume all the Erwitt comments are because of the dogs? Interestingly he mentions numerous 'street photographers' as influences, but not erwitt.

I am guessing that the commissioned photos are staged. And many of the other color ones I'll bet are staged also. He is brilliant in the conception of his photos. Very imaginative .....wow.

Great compositions there for sure. I guess the shadow detail is something of the past. Every time I see photos now, the contrast is very high and little or no shadow detail. It's a dam.. shame :-(

I'll bet they aren't. Life trumps any imagination, you just have to keep eyes open and have camera ready.

Looks like coincidence photography to me. Perhaps a bit to much of it. Street photography for me is about capturing mood and atmosphere, which these don't really do.

I've changed my mind: perhaps it should be called "serenpidity photography", rather than coicidence.

But only 'street' is one broadens the term quite a bit more than I would take seriously. But then who am I to say when I barely even know who I am.

I generally agree with lorriman. I'll also, at the risk of sounding bitterly envious, say that something about the original shots seems semi-staged or arranged somehow. There's just a bit too much consistent coincidence. Perhaps this is a collection of shots over a large amount of time or the guy just motor drives through film/frames/whatever.

Part of it comes from the fact that a few just seem a bit perfect (sleeping woman, dog on carpet, etc). Additionally the concept is cool, but it's definitely not new, and by the 5-6th one in it's becoming boring. "Okay okay, I get it, ha ha nicely seen! Nice one! Have anything else?"

Well Simon, I would say everything is relative.
The day I will have an equal weight image to yours, that one with the fence, glove and sign - I think I will take a long long rest and feel fully statysfied with myself on the street photography trade.

He is one of the few I have seen that makes color work for street. Thanks for posting this. Someone said they bet his work was staged. You need to go back & click on his FAQ in his bio. & you'll see if it's staged or not.

Interesting work; however, I would classify most of them as "visual puns." After seeing a large number of them I start getting the sense that I'm expecting the next one to also be a pun. Which it ends up being. I'm left with the same feeling as witnessing a stand-up comedian who only does one kind of humor: after a while it starts to sound the same.

Perhaps my opinion is faulted, given that I only know his work through this one website; maybe his larger body of work is broader than mere puns.
