Thardy expressed it well. Sense of place is relative to the viewer as well as the photographer. I can relate some of the photographs in this thread to my personal experiences and memories, but others leave me out. I immediately recognized the place of SciAggie's Texas Hill Country farmhouse, and it took me back to places I've been, people I've known, and things I've seen.

Yep this just about sums up the Mongkok district of Hong Kong for me.... (Its just about THE most crowded city on the planet. And because everyone lives in tiny little apartments, they all seem to come out on the streets - especially at night.) I love the place - its got a real character.
