I have to make a confession!
I have suffered a severe case of the GAS those last months, and I guess I must repent somehow.
Following my acquisition of the fabulous Fuji X100 I have lusted for a real film camera, a rangefinder of course. And I bought one, then another one, and one more, and.......
I bought from the (in)famous internet marketplace with varying success. I got an unusable Canonet QL17 (of course described as perfect condition😡) - the seller took it back but I lost some postage in this affair. I got an Olympus 35 SP with fungus and missing light seals (original text: Lens in perfect condition, light seals replaced.... go figure). It has been CLA'd and is in top shape now, but at an additionnal cost.
Then there were the positive surprises: A New Canonet 28 in really perfect condition, another 35 SP equally great and 2 Trip 35'es that are great.
This leaves me with a lot of cameras, but you can only use one at a time, no?
Decision time!
Do I want to be a collector? No, I don't think so. My classic Rover Mini is used every day for commute, not kept in a showcase too. Cameras are made to be used, like cars, so a bit of culling is in the books.
What do I want to keep?
The CLA'd Olympus 35 SP of course, and probably the Canonet GIII QL17, and the Trips, I love them (do I hear the GAS demon speaking here?).
OK, here it comes: I will sell the New Canonet 28, the second Oly 35 SP and my Canon AE-1 (with 50, 28 and 135mm lenses) I bought just to bring back my youthful days......
OK. it's out now, I feel better!
