Smashing Daniel! I have one of these old Elmars too, they are just wonderful little lenses. Mine is from 1949 and is coated, I do like the "look" from the older designs. I have new cameras, but prefer the older lenses. 🙂

How are the very old Elmars? I am thinking of the ones that are usually inlcuded when you get a Leica II from the mid thirties for example. Are they just fogged up and hopeless? Please say yes, I am trying to avoid getting a really old Leica... 🙂

I have the old 90 Elmar '39 and just love the way it takes photos and does surprisingly well with color also. Bought mine for $35, not a scratch or hazing and tghe only external wear was a slight brassing of the aperture ring. Nice black model with plastic case

What a wonderful photograph. Older lenses if found in clean condition can do magic when used in the right hands. I dug up one of my old 90/4 Elmar lenses and took some photos of some friends and family today. I tend to forget about this lens. It is amazing how inexpensive such lenses have become. Good for us who want them.
