As always in people photography.......’the eyes have it’ and these two children’s eyes show the depth of sadness of this sad land. A place where so much heartbreak and bloodshed has taken away any semblance of stability and happiness.

Amidst all the tragedies of the past, the people are resilient.
They want to move on, hopefully having gained lessons from follies of the past.

I am an optimist.

Another country steeped in history. Wonderful people, and superb panoramas.

My wife sits in the middle of an inter-country highway connecting Bosnia and
Croatia...

I like very much your B&W photos (I'm in a B&W mood lately!). But I'm very impressed by the colours you have here. Special. Vivid but not artificial!
And yes, you used a very good camera but without your excellent eye you could not get such good and interesting photos. Bravo, well done!

Hey everybody,
Re-upping this thread with such beautiful pictures to ask some advices about the Balkans;
I'm going to a 10-days trip through the region starting from Budapest, Belgrade, Sarajevo, Mostar and back to Italy from Zadar. Will be staying around three days in each city, except for Mostar.
I already found some informations about camera shops in Budapest, but there aren't as many infos about the other places, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend nice spots to see and shoot, photo exhibitions (already found Mai Manó Ház in Budapest) or camera shops.
Also looking eventually for nice places outside the cities if there will be time to explore, like the region of Voivojdina in Serbia filled with beautiful orthodox monasteries, where I really would hope to go!

edit: i didnt see its such an old thread-it was too high among posts that i assumed it was recent one..

how will you travel? car? train?
for monasteries-yes take the road from novinsas to belgrade - check Petrovaradin- fortress on the other side of danube in novi sad and super cute Petrovaradin houses. also on the way you have Sremski Karlovci - very pretty town along the way. then you will reach fruska gora. you can make small circles 4 by 4 monasteries if you have time. but if you are tighter with time go to see velika remeta, krusedol,grgeteg and then novo hopovo. remeta will take you left from crossroad that goes to belgrade and you sill have to go back again on same road to reach other three so its best circle and remeta is also prettiest in my opinion. also why i suggest this route.. you will finish in hopovo which is next to town in fruska gora - Irig where you will be able to rest or check some local wineries. maybe is best idea to maybe seek place to sleep in hopovo - i think they are very big and probably have space. please check remeta and grgeteg-they are not right on the road but really worthy visit ( and ask nuns in grgeteg to show you inside -they have some really nice little old chapel inside-very tiny and very impressively drawn..)
