I bought this Accessory from Leica Goodies website ( Get your SLING for the Leica M! )

This is an interesting alternative to the strap as a
carry-aid, as a thumbs up alternative to provide
a better grip.

When it arrived via mail, I found a small nylon strip with 3 holes and
a common metal ring found in straps. The instructions was
pretty simple, fold the strip into an "S" and thread the right camera
strap lug (nearest to the shutter release) with the 3 holds, finally
secure the "S" with a enclosed metal ring.

One hour later, after much huffing and puffing, I managed to install
this Sling onto my IIIf. Here is how it looks like:

To use it, one has to put the middle and fourth fingers through the
S-loops.

Walking around with it, the camera felt secure as the sling
was quite snug on my fat fingers, I initially carried it the HCB way,
with the camera on my palm with the lens pointing outwards.
This allowed me to move discretely, take a picture and let the camera
"drop" to my side in my palm. The IIIf + Sling makes for invisible
shooting.

I also carried it around letting the camera dangle from my
fingers, this was more comfortable though it was harder to
get into shooting position.

When it came to focusing and shooting, I found that I had to hold
it differently, because of the fulcrum on the middle and fourth finger,
I had to position my right thumb under the baseplate for better balance.
After a couple of shots, it felt easier, but still, not how I would normally shoot.

Pros
===
* Discrete. Without the need of a strap.
* Adds a good grip to the camera

Cons
===
* May have to change holding and shooting habit
I had to position my thumb under the baseplate to
balance the camera when shooting.

* * Not that easy to install.

* Felt Awkward initially. Need a bag to hold the camera if you need
to completelyfree up the right hand, ie. put in a fresh roll of film.

Conclusion: So far, I have only tested on my IIIF, i need to try it out on my m-bodies
before I can comment. So far, I like it on my IIIF.

If I might add my comments to the above review....I installed the Sling on my M3, and agree that it takes a considerable amount of effort to do so.
Once installed, it feels very secure, however. The ring that connects the Sling to the camera strap lug allows it to be quickly attached or unattached to a neck or wrist strap if desired, using various quick connect devices.
I found it quite comfortable to use when attending an outdoor art fair, letting the camera dangle from my fingers at my side, and providing a secure grip when composing and taking a shot.
