A7r with RF glass

Here is the CV 15 wide open:

Is that cropped? the top left show minimal to zero vignetting. (and same with image with pony, no signs of vignetting in t top corners - unless cropped?) I thought this lens did not work well. Unless it was shot with the A7. This is promising, as I have this lens. The old one, LTM version..

I dont' think it's cropped, but I've been wrong before :)

Has anyone tried using collapsible lenses like the 50/2.8 Elmar? And brave enough to try collapsing into the A7R body without hitting the sensor or internals?

@uhoh7 -- are you getting a A7 or A7R?
A7r

Now have permission to show:

"one more thing...
In out of camera photos there is no vignetting at all with my Summilux 50mm and Biogon 35mm, I added effect with Lightroom. How ever you can't use built in hood with Summilux, with hood you get vignetting in corners... There still no vignetting from filters I used..."

FYI to all: now have express permission from 10 shooters shown prior to Stephen's request. "I'm honored" said several. So all are happy to do so, but I have a few who have not replied--will convert to links if they do not.

That's pretty awesome. Assuming he means at f1.4 no vignetting on 50 'lux. He must have the ASPH version.

Thank you for following through with this

These don't look half bad. I'm much less concerned with vignetting than I am the color shifts and smearing at the edges. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell too much from these shots.

The 28 Summicron is the pivotal lens for me on this camera.

I can see some color tone change in the corners, since it looks similar to the kind of shot I get with the Distagon 18mm ZM and NEX-7.

That is easily fixable, though. If you don't want to deal with vignetting in post, the A7 may be a much better option - from what I've read even some 50mm's have red edges, and for me using profiles to correct over 80% of my lenses is just too much work...

It's strange to be so excited about a camera yet with so many unknowns. I'm sitting here with my 50/2 planar, cv 15 and 35/1.2, my adapters are here. Just waiting for the camera to arrive. I've set myself up to be disappointed, which is for the best. If it works out, I'll be psyched. If not, it's going back. I do think I'll pop for the cv 21/1.8 if I keep the camera though.

Hi, Charlie contacted me on Flickr and invited me to join this forum.

I got my a7R last Friday and here's a couple of quick gear snapshots with the iPhone 5 and Hipstamatic.

I'd have zero problems with getting the A7 over the A7r if it worked better with the 28 Summicron (and the 50 ASPH). Just waiting for someone to shoot something with this combo where I can get a good sense for smearing on the edges.

Supposedly there are no problems with the Super Angulon. Sony tested many old lenses during the pre production process. I'm happy that I could use my Dual Range Summicron on it, unlike the 240 which will not mount it.

Has it been tried with the Leitz Super Angulon 21 f3.4 ?

The M SA 21/3.4 results are the one that interest me the most.

That would be excellent news!

Here's a couple of test images with the CV15 LTM on the a7R.

All images are OOF camera JPG's, B&W, Sharpness +3, Contrast +1 and NR on Low. Besides some resizing nothing was done to these images, this includes cropping.

The a7R tends to underexpose with the CV15, this doesn't help to get the corners up to speed. Also the focus wasn't spot in some images, after using a Nikon DSLR with big lenses for many years it isn't easy to rely on an EFV or LCD for focussing, especially such a tiny lens with gloves on :D
