Well I suppose this thread gives me the "Cause" to mount the 5cm F1.4 Nikkor onto the LTM adapter for the M3. JUST as an experiment to compare it with the Summarit and Summicron. The Nikkor and the Summarit give very different results, and using the two on the same roll of film is what is required to pin it down. The Nikkor gives "Picture PostCard Colors" and the Summarit gives an almost "Watercolor Painting". I am thinking of keeping the 50mm F1.4 Canon mounted on the new M2 and the LTM Summarit on the Canon 7 as an East-Meets-West exchange.
The Canon lens falls somewhere in between the Nikkor and Leitz optics, it is a true 6-element Xenon F1.4 lens. It is the only 6-element F1.4 lens that I am aware of; most are 7-element designs.
Oscar,
I have the Nikkor 5cm f1.4 in Leica Thread Mount and normally keep it on the mint Canon 7. I would use the common leica thread mount to M adapter to put it on the M3 (or M2). Those Nikon S to M mount adapters are more than the lens, M3, and 8.5cm F2 combined!
