today at work, after installing our new computer lab and setting up the wireless system, the server blew up!

well, not exactly blew up...but apparently we will not have internet access for a while.

and that means i will be going 'cold turkey' without access to the forum during my 'breaks'.

we were not given any eta for the internet return.

so, please behave during the day - mst, canada -

and think of me sweating, hands shaking desperate for my next fix 😉

joe

btw - i am a victim here as i had absolutely nothing to do with the actual set up of the system etc.

And I thought only our (work) IT department was capable of doing this!

Welcome to my world!

You will find it amazing how well IT departments are trained in finding that "the fault lies not with us, but in the stars, we who are underlings..."

Or something like that (deepest apologies to Shakespere).

Coffee has caffeine. It's no good for him. Juice would be better---. 🙂

I never had a 'puter that blew up on me. 🙂

I had the same problem right after RFF switched servers.. my work internet connection couldn't find the new server for 2 weeks after.. then one day it just started connecting again

Now you'll have some time for some coffee and camera shots, Joe! Make the best of it. 🙂

I noticed you were quite yesterday. Don't worry, that story about what happens when the cat is away isn't true at all.

squeak, squeak, where is the cheese. 😉

Man, I feel ya. I probably spend at least a hour a day thinking about RFF (while not logged in). In class, when the professor is going on in his thick Russian drawl about something business related, I really just slip away into a sort of withdrawal - or more accurately, a sort of out of body experience that is hard to describe. It is strange. You know me, I am over the top, but this time, I am not playing around. This is serious.

Hope your system gets well soon, Joe.

Treasure the fact that you can access RFF from work at all. Going to an online forum like RFF through the corporate server can draw an instant pink slip at the company where I work.

apparently, our server is fine!
the wireless went gonzo in the lab but that had nothing to do with the rest of the system.
i think the it person shut it all down to piss everyone off.
and then today, all but 2 of us in my office space had the net.
turns out our computers had to be reconfigured or something. took the it person like 2 seconds. bad day all 'round...

So Joe,
Does this mean we can be 'naughty' till you're back? ~ ; - 0

It sounds like your IT department talks to our IT department.

Today, our system did a gonzo crash from about 10AM through Noon.

I think it wants a vacation.

And it just had one last week! 😀

and then there is my company where the owner actually comes over to me and asks me to download music and games for his computer while we're working.. and my supervisor used to tell me about the p*rn sites he'd look up

I should be exempt from having to behave. I've earned it. I've been very, very good up until now and I was going to have so much fun being bad...

Darn you, Joe! *Darn you!*
