Probably an oxymoron, in fact I'm not sure something can be art without intent.
And pretentious thread title as well.
But I took this as an illustration of a specific equipment issue in my kitchen--that was my only intent.
After seeing it on my computer before emailing it, I decided that I really like the photo.
Any one else got one to share?

I am always looking for the serendipitous image that I can capture as art. Its accidental in the sense that it never was intended as such - until I came along that is. :^) Here are a couple of examples from my Flickr Adelaide set. I love abstract forms made from ordinary objects and odd angles that produce interesting perspectives. Your photo is a good example.

i agree, it is possible to create accidental art. but it is also possible you have the eye of an artist and have not yet been exposed to its revelation. if you begin to look for what you have 'accidentally' discovered then you will know if you have that innate sense. if you see it and recognise it then you are on your way to a new echelon of sensitivities. and new photography.

What if it is your intent to make accidental art? Isn't all of photography predicated on that?

This is one of my favorite forms of photography so here are a couple more.
The secret is to get in close and look for interesting repetitive patterns and textures. Do this and it will not go far wrong.

i shot this on my first test roll with a minolta A5 i bought on e-bay for $25 or so. i wanted to check the 2.8/45 rokkor's ability across a wide range of tones. turned out there was composition in the jumble.

this one is not art but it was a happy accident. an english walker coonhound pup that i was fostering (he now has a good home with a young coon hunter) decided he must see what i was interested in, and appeared in the viewfinder just as i was about to shoot a mini-lanscape of the frozen creek where we live. then i shot:

This is the result of developing Kodak VC160 film in some very dodgy C41 chemicals that had been left far too long in a shed all through summer!

Accidental double exposure on my holga. The deer head was on the side of a garage.
