Accidently exposed an entire roll of film twice... Results.

So Accidently lost an exposed roll of film with the rest of my unexposed film... don't ask how it happened lol. Ended up I shot an entire roll of film twice through, so everything was perfectly lined up and double exposed. The double exposures were shot a week a part, and i'm surprised at how many of the coincidentally work out to be quite interesting. An unfortunate blessing? What do you think about them? Here are the ones that I think turned out well, errr interesting would be a more appropriate word choice haha

yes, these 'mistakes' can turn out pretty funky. while 5,6,7 look especially cool to me, most of these shots look like they were taken through a reflecting window! happy accidents indeed!

about 1.5 years back, I accidentally exposed one frame 3 or 4 times at a concert (film slipped out of the sprocked holes after loading, don't ask me how):

I noticed it though, rewound the film and finished it 1-2 months later, discovering this. 😀

I think that's just what you feel like when these things happen, probably why so few people do this kind of experiment on purpose :angel:

maybe you should wind your film all the way back into the capsule, so the difference between exposed and unexposed film is clearer?

Somehow I exposed twice a frame with a Rolleiflex:

Interesting thing is I shot the same subject from two slightly different perspectives.

Interesting - - and opens up some possibilities. I saw a folio some time ago of shots by a NZ photographer named Jackie Rankin who deliberately double exposed her shots. She previsualised and planned but the results were intriguing and not "happy accidents".

Some look like shots taken through a window plus picking up the background. There are a couple where the subject face is missing is pretty cool/weird.

The famous Rock photographer Jim Marshall used to double-expose concert rolls, he would do this intentionally. There are some cool double exposures in TRUST, one of his last books.

Haven't done that in years, but I have done it. I've also forgotten whether I exposed a roll (didn't) and ended up with blanks.

My trick now is that when I remove exposed film, I fold and crease the leader, so I know not to load it again.

I think this happens to lots of people eventually -- always fascinating, but it's a big bonus when there's a real keeper or two, as you have. I'll join the chorus of "great!" on #5!
