ACROS 100 available at B+H this morning

Heads up for those who like this film. B and H has some more in and it is still available as of ten minutes ago, though probably will be gone in a few hours, as usually happens. They get some in periodically. Normal price. 120 and 135.
Jerk that I am, I ordered all I could afford before I posted this.
 
I'd be all over that if I didn't still have 7 or 8 tins (100 ft rolls) in the freezer. Should still probably order some more. :D

Thank you very VERY much. I just ordered a whole bunch more, giving me more than enough film for me to last many many years.

I was thinking about switching over to TMAX100 but thanks to B & H I wont have to contemplate such a move.

Well, they certainly won't if we don't continue buying the products they do have in their catalogue currently. A boycott of Fujifilm would be very damaging to the company and to photographers worldwide. The R&D and production of the film products are so thoroughly interwoven that each one needs the other to remain healthy. Fujifilm is the worldwide leader in instant film with its successful Instax line and it is in a big way thanks to strong Instax sales that they are able to offer as many "regular" films as they do. So long live Fujifilm! And yes, buy Acros!

I have over 800 rolls of Acros in my archive of negatives. I did my part. Fujifilm still discontinued it.
 
Not to jump on the outrage mill but after Kodak's ups and downs, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Fuji jumps back into the BW game again in a few years, but I'm also not holding my breath at all. Like everyone else, it's always been my all-time favorite but regretfully didn't shoot it much as more commonly available Kodak stocks (until recently, Bartell's and a few Walgreens stocked Tmax). I'm trying out Silvermax which appears to have a similar look.

I just souped 8 rolls from a particularly memorable road trip, and while mourning the loss, was glad the last of mine ended on a high note.

I tried and failed to fight temptation the other day after stopping in my local shop. "We've still got a case of 120 in the back of the fridge," the salesperson, a personal friend, whispered to me. "We're saving it for people we know will actually shoot it."

And behold, 5-packs were tucked in behind the Delta boxes. I grabbed three, all I could justify to afford on this shopping trip.

Meanwhile, a gentleman was roaming the sales floor telling various customers and staff that he was on the hunt for Acros to resell, and would be worth gold on eBay in a short while. I tried to hide my bounty under a pack of neg sheets, but he saw me checking out and absolutely DEMANDED to know where I found them.

"Last ones I could find, I dug around a bit and I guess I was lucky," I lied. He looked like he believed me and left empty handed. I hope he's not on RFF... I'm told he's a frequent but particularly quite literally demanding customer.

It's going in the freezer, alongside my last few packs of FP-100B, until I can find a subject worthy of this very special film.
 
Acros used to be one of the cheapest black and white films around. But that was years ago and the price for it is substantially higher today. It would be interesting to know if Fujifilm can profitably make this film at $10 a roll (for a 35mm roll) as opposed to the $4 a roll that was charged in the past.

One would think that a more than 100% price increase would make any product profitable.

I have bought so much Acros that I have many years of supply in my freezer. Maybe others have done the same and so Fujifilm has shot themselves in the foot that any new release of this film will not be sustainable because so much hoarding has gone on.

I really do not need to buy any film at all for years on end now. I was going to switch over to Delta 100 but that will not happen anytime soon since Acros has popped up in stores enough for me to grab hundreds of rolls.
