O.K. I am a zone kind if guy. How many stops does a roll of Acros 100 have when using Microlol X developer? Using a Pentax spot meter, I am finding that Zone IX is unprintabe using my scanner and printer. I know, I could do the tests, but thought perhaps that someone has already done the tests!

I haven't run any acros in microdol but do use it in Ilford HC 1:31 and rate it at 80. Not having measured my negs on a densitometer but judging from my prints (wet prints) that I'm gettin a full range of tones and have easily printed negs on my Ilford MG head with a #2. Acros in HC makes some of the nicest negs I've ever produced.

The problem might be your scanner and printer or possibly you need to back off your processing a little to reduce contrast. Many less expensive scanners, under $5,000, cheat on specs. The dmax and resolution figures are drastically exagerated untill you get into the Imacon or higher level scanners.

I dilute Microdol-X 1:3 at 75 degrees and process Acros in it for 18 minutes, ending up with negatives that print so easily with highlights not blown and shadows maintained. Same with Delta 100. Both are rated at ISO 100 with said parameters. I don't know about the range, however.

Not sure that I understand your question, but then again I've never used microdol. How many stops I can place on film depends on how I expose and develop the film. I can lessen my development time and end up with highlights exposed as zone VIII or IX with zone VII densities.
