Across Kyrgyzstan by Bicycle

Nice photographs.
Try to contact Red Bull they have a nature Magazine (Terra Mater) and a Company Advertising (Red Bulletin) mag that loves that Kind of thing B/W + bike and less well known countries

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! This is the first time I've shared a body of work here, so I really appreciate the kind words and encouragement.

I wanted to keep my photo gear to a minimum as extra space is quite hard to find on trips like these, so I shot everything using a single camera, lens, film stock, and filter (multi-coated UV). I do occasionally use color filters in B+W work, but not for this trip. I debated between HP5 and FP4 and ultimately went with HP5, though once I was there I realized that FP4 would have been a fast enough film under the blazing Kyrgyz sun.

What an amazing trip, documented with some fine photos! That looks like some rugged terrain that you pedaled through. I was amused to see a donkey with a VW crest on its forehead and I especially liked the interaction with the local folk. And I, too, like that you're shooting film.

Your photos look like they were all taken with no filters. Is that your preferred approach?

Thanks for sharing your experience and your photographs with us.

What a fantastic trip. Thanks for sharing it. I'd love to do a similar trip someday...on a motorcycle.

I really loved seeing these. Thanks for sharing them. They make me wistful for an adventure.

Do you mind sharing your processing? Really beautiful to my eye.

Bravo! I dream of taking a trip like this some day.

Did you need to take special care to pack the MP for travel on those rough roads, or did you simply throw it into one of your bags?

I envy that experience, even though i am totally not the kind of person to actually want to do that sort of thing....

Love the VW Burro, and the father+sweet daughter with kitty ears.

what a trip and very impressive, memorable photos. admire you for choosing both route and gear

Congratulations on a great photo essay of a wonderful trip of a lifetime. Your choice of camera and film has added to the atmosphere and given a timeless feel to this project. I am an avid user of HP5+ and these are some great shots.

Regards, John.

Pure magic. Thanks so much for stirring the blood and lifting the eyes to the horizon. Been too long since my last adventure.
