Does anyone know of a source for adjusting this type of Kalart rangefinder? It has scales front and back. I have found other references to Kalart rangefinders, and setting adjustment, but not for this type with the scales front and back.

I have one attached to a camera, but am reluctant to experiment if someone has some experience.

Thanks for any information.

Thanks JamesH, I have seen that site though and it doesn't seem to mention the scales. Are those equal to other distances, and if so, which?

On THIS page is the scales chart of the different formats, lens lengths and the appropriate front and rear scale settings.

Thanks. I looked right over that some how. Now I just need to read more closely to see what it says about 9x12.

Different Kalarts

Different Kalarts

Just thought I would post a couple of different Kalarts I have found on ebay, for 9x12 cameras.

The first shows a plain RF, no adjustments on the outside. I have one like this and the ends come off. I guess you would find something like that shown on the link by JamesH. The second as can be seen, has a scale front and back, and is evidently a revision allowing the same adjustments as shown on the sheet on the link by JamesH, but allowable from the outside. Doing a search of sold cameras, I was curious about the span of prices on 9x12, for no rhyme or reason I can put my finger on. Of course I didn't write down the dates to check the phases on the moon on the dates sold.

I just got my Crown today in the mail. As soon as I get a lens board for it I'll be recalibrating the RF. I'm kinda excited because just from the outside cover, it looks completely different than the one I just did on my 3x4. It's all so simplistic. Why did we ever go away from systems like this? Guess I'm just not all that hip to the electrical stuff.

Hey, I just looked at those links. I have a Zeiss Icon that looks just like those! Minus the RF.

...and I can't find that picture of it anywhere...

Yep, I have a fixer Zeiss myself. One of these days. I have several projects in various stages of completion, or pending. One of the things Mr. Hicks aluded to: Time!

But I do like the way Zeiss lenses "look."

Good luck on your next calibration project. Sounds like you are getting pretty used to it.
