Yup, that support in fact came about as a result the cooperative efforts of various members of this forum.

It seems that even if you have Adobe Updater preferences to auto download & install (which I have) it dosen't download camera raw in this mode. My version of CS2 updated to 9.0.1 is only showing Camera Raw version 3.2.

I guess you have to download & install 3.4 manually?

Point of clarity please, anyone.
If i install ACR 3.4 with the update for R D1s files , will I still retain the ability to process R D1 files?
Thanks

Yes, ACR 3.4 is backward-compatible with files for the original R-D 1.

Also, to answer someone else's question earlier, installing ACR 3.4 updates Photoshop, Bridge, and any other Adobe applicaton that calls the ACR plug-in to handle raw files.

If you use Adobe's DNG format, you'll also want to download the latest version (3.4) of DNG Converter, which likewise has been updated to handle R-D 1s (and other new) file formats. DNG converter and ACR are separate items, although you can get both as a combined download from the Adobe website.

If the earlier version of ACR already supported the Epson R-D1 and if the Epson R-D1S is identical in terms of hardware and only different in terms of firmware, what would be needed from ACR in the new version to provide an update for the R-D1S? (Sorry if my question is a little confusing, but hopefully people understand what I am getting at...)

Peter,

The difference in firmware seems to make for a slightly different RAW file.

Sean,

Have other programs followed in supporting the R-D1s files, or is Adobe the first one? Such as Capture one etc?

Not long till the firmware arrives i guess.. do we upgrade or not ? :)
