A very, very nice story!

A very, very nice story!

Hi,

like your little picturestory very much.
Just thinking about the poor Ilfords and their long way to the CL...

Regards, Axel

Hey Kelvin
It's Pos Malaysia, what can I say? What can anyone say? :D

David

PS Where do you get your XP2?

glad you guys liked it, took me about 1.5 to 2 hours from start to finish, yes, it was a slow day :D

kully: Im using a combination of wordpress and JAlbum. both very simple (even I can use it!), not the most flexible layout in the world, unless you can do a bit of programming, but it serves the purpose.

film dino: actually it arrived MUCH earlier than expected, only shipped form germany last friday. my XP2 mostly comes from ruby in singapore.

OK, that's one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. Very creative!

Hope you get your CL soon. I wonder if the little village of Ilfordians knows they are about to be sacrificed to the very deity they're seeking?

That was pretty funny. I've used XP2 in my CL, it's a good match.

I'm waiting for part II where the Ilfords meet the new CL...

haha, thanks guys... i was taking the piss out of this whole episode this afternoon, at least it resulted in something productive :D

gosh Al...... Im feeling the pressure now. need to spend the rest of the night thinking of the plot for part II!

Seems to me the Ilfordians would not be sacrificed, rather, only by passing through the CL can they attain a higher level of existence (exposed negatives).

Very funny story -- a slow day, indeed!

OK, recieved the camera (Finally!), but more bad news to follow. no batteries included!! friggn hell, at least i have a ready plot for part II.

in any case, dont think i can wait anymore, will run a roll through it tonite/this weekend to put it through its paces. will prob get the weincell off ebay or something.

Can you put out some kind of alert when part II´s ready? Don´t wan to miss it - I´ll try to forget that the CL is actually there!

I didn't have good luck with the Wein cell I tried: it died in just a few days. No big deal, since I've found that using a handheld meter for incident measurements is actually fairly convenient.

Nevertheless, I'll re-calibrate the meter for silver oxide cells this weekend. I posted some info about this a little while back: clicky clicky. If you have a meter, it's a pretty quick and easy process. I calibrated mine for the Wein (it was off by a couple of stops), and it agreed with my Sekonic to within a half stop or less when I was done.

John, thats interesting, i was just about to pull the trigger on a bunch of wein cells 1.35v (not the adapter). how do you go about re-calibrating the meter? is it a complicated process? I'd be interested to hear more.

I sacrificed a roll of XP2 last night, used the CL without the meter and they actualy turn out pretty good. some are a bit too contrasty, but not sure if thats overexposure or the film/processing (1-hour).

leif e: you can get the rss feed from my site to get a note about the update. Part II will have to be more elaborate, so will take a bit longer :)

Kelvin, check out the "clicky clicky" link in my post above, then follow the links in my post from a couple of months ago. You do need to have access to a good light meter.

John, ive checked the link, interesting read. to clarify, it didnt really mention if you can pop in 1.55v (or any other voltage) batteries, and use the screws to calibrate them accordingly?

but i take it from reading the last step and yuor post above that this is the whole point of the exercise? i may give this a try, seems fairly fool-proof (famous last words).

You should be able to calibrate the meter for any reasonable battery voltage. I'll find out as soon as I finish the roll I'm working on.

look forward to hearing/seeing your results John. I wonder this is what they (eg Sherry) do when you send them the CL to recalibrate the meter? sounds straightforward enough

Be careful how you calibrate it, because currently available alkaline batteries doesn't provide the same results, as mercury batteries work differently as they discharge than alks do.

Loved the photostory!!

THe batt you wanna calibrate for the the silver oxide s625PX by exell-

if it hasn't been mentioned already.
The silver has a flatter curve than the dread alc..

I have ordered from batteriesinaflash and they are indeed the right shape to clip into the CL. This page describes it better- but the photo is wrong..

a search on s625px tells all.
If only I could get a silver 640..
