We are planning the details of our vacation to Burma / Myanmar during the first two weeks off January 2013.
Any advice where to go or what to avoid?
Photography wise I am planning on taking a couple off Holga's and an iPhone. Perhaps even a Yashica 124G.

Don't miss Bagan temple area. It's out of this world in the evening light. Hire a horse carriage to show you around.
Remember to read the lonely planet guidebook. Burma is one of those countries where you really need a good guidebook.

I did some travelling in Myanmar in 2009... Beautiful country... You can see my photographic results on my websites:
- My personal favourites (my under construction commercial site)
- Myanmar gallery on my zenfolio website (contains much more images)
Mrauk U left a deep impression on me, but it's more of a hassle to get there. Inle lake is very beautiful as well, but much more touristy (if that exists in Myanmar) then other sites. Be sure to hire your private boat and go out at sunrise. The boatman will know exactly what you want, don't worry... Bagan is impressive and out of this world, because it is so big. I was in Bagan for five days and felt that 2 weeks is about the minimum one needs to do justice to this place.
If you have questions, shoot
