advice on a trade

The only suggestion or comment I have is that with a CL won't you be creating a duplicate with the CLE? You could of course do it and sell which ever you prefer less.

How will you use the CLE? It seems that you're trading a P&S type camera for a camera you'll be using like a P&S type camera. However, if that's what you want, go for it.

i'm thinking of a double wide combo, cl with 21 and cle with 28 lenses.
or cl with 40 and cle with 28 or 21.
for times when i might want 2 (smaller) cameras handy.

this is why ask for feedback - now i'm thinking maybe i should trade the af for a lens. i got the cle bug again last night talking with mp/cle in a thread.

Hi Joe,

my guess is there will be a US 200 or so price difference. Good CLEs go for more than US 600 if I remember right.

You could always consider trading the CL AND Hexar against a good M6 😀

Roland.

not so roland. i did a completed search on ebay and there are some auctions that ended at less than 600 for body and lens.

i plan on keeping the cl. this all started years ago when i sold my 2 cle's and have regretted it since.

He could, but then he'd just end up selling it and buying a couple of Canon P bodies. Then we'd be back where we all started! 😛

I just realised that I should be nice, or the next time I see Joe he's gonna club me with his M3, or something equally hard and pain-inflicting... 😀

Cheers,

No, thank you. I am pretty proud and surprised of not jumping on that one myself.

Dang, joe! You should have been an Options or Futures trader. You really move equipment!

Once you get the CLE back, you'll probably want to unload the CL. I'm a big fan of the CLE, and like MP/CLE stated in the other thread, once you start using it again, you'll neglect your other cameras. I had to make a concious effor to put mine aside so that I would use my other cameras!

My opinion is to do nothing right now, and give the Hexar some more time. Like the CLE, it is an unique and addictive camera--a keeper. Don't unload the Hexar, but get the CLE, if you can.

So far so good, only fumbled other lenses not shot with them 🙂.
Three films from last week-end in development (for the PAW) ...
The Canon 35 is easy to get used to. But I cannt get warm
with the M6 75mm framelines yet ... Considering to switch to a
35/85 combo.

so you bought the m2?

the m2 is one of those cameras that i don't need but want one to play with.

i have always wanted to play with lots of cameras and lenses. this was fueled when i worked part time in a camera store for a couple of years, many years ago.
not to get maudlin but ever since the heart attack i have felt more free to buy and sell and experience the gear i never did before.
i also feel somewhat of a time pressure so i do move quickly once i decide to act. i'm hoping that pressure will ease with time.

i'm sure it must seem like a roller coaster at times...

Heh, that just reminds me...

I believe that it was you who told me that when it was quiet in the camera store, you and the other salespeople would open the camera backs, and see if you could quickly stick your finger into a firing shutter and pull it out again before it closed on you. This, of course, resulted in much hilarity, as well as a lot of fingers being jammed into the sides of shutter blades.

You're not still doing that, are you? Or is that why you're always trading camera gear? 😉

Personally speaking (and you know why I'm speaking personally 😀) I think the Hexar AF is worth more than just a CL body.

I would sell the CL on Ebay (if the trade was not with another RFF member).

If the trade is with another RFF member.. then I would think it's a good one for both parties and you'd be adding to the "comraderie" that this site is known for 🙂

gulp, yeah that was me but no, i stopped that...now that the cameras are mine.
plus, i was much quicker in those days.

the cl is staying, no question.
i'm toying with the idea of a cle as partner to the cl. it would be another small body and it has fl for the 28.
but maybe a trade for a lens is better as i have 3 good working bodies now.

or, maybe i just keep the hexar af for now and play with it.

this may sound odd but i go by 'feeling' as much as anything and the hex did not make the connection i was hoping for. perhaps in time...

i do think the af is a good trade for a cle, value wise, and if someone wanted a good af this would fit the bill.

Ugh.. my hands were typing "sell the CL on ebay" but my mind was thinking "sell the Hexar AF on ebay".. so that's really what I meant 🙂

gotta love that mind/hand coordination...😉

i have never sold on ebay and i usually just buy smaller things there now.

much prefer to deal with the members here.

Yep. With the M2 I moved to the dark side (this is my 2nd). Then I traded against an M6, later added the M3 .... Compared to my user M6, my M3 is
kind of sacred, I used it frequently but under "controlled" conditions.
I love the mechanical feeling of it and remember that the M2 felt identical
except for the VF; I even liked the external film counter better.
So getting a user M2 that I can beat around with my 2 lens combo
feels great 🙂

On your trade question again: you probably are right in terms of value,
my statement above was biased 😱

But you might have to go via sale/buy on *bay, CLE users might not want to
trade you, feeling that a working CLE is rarer than a Hexar, plus they probably have one CLE and 2-3 lenses.

Roland.

i expect the trade would be a unique transaction but you never know. the hexar af would be ideal for someone wanting an easier photo experience.
i can see use for the af but not in as many situations, for me, as another cl or cle.
one reason for wanting a cle is i suspect i am moving into a 'wide phase' in my shooting so having a smaller camera with 28 fl would be nice.
