Hi folks,

Having few LTM lens and a R3A, great fun with them though. Would like to buy a R-D1 or R-D1S, could I have yours advice on:
1.) Which battery life longer;
2.) Generally more robust, ie less repair needed;
3.) Any other differences should a new comer know?

Thanks

The only difference I've noticed is that the paint on the R-D1s is a bit more pebbled in texture, and the jog dial knob has a slightly stiffer clicking action.

Vertical rangefinder misalignments are (sometimes, often or always depending upon opinions) easier to adjust by DIY with the R-D1 than with the R-D1s.

've been using R-D1s for quite a while, so far no mechanical problem. I haven't owned a R-D1 but as kermaler said, the dial is a little stiff.

The R-D1 can be upgraded to the same softare with R-D1s but apparently the R-D1s had a little different mechanical design changes from R-D1. The paintings are a little better, not that easy to get lost.

have a look through Rich Cutlers great R-D1 site linked in the sticky at the top of every forum page here http://www.richcutler.co.uk/r-d1/r-d1_01.htm
in the downloads section there are links to the file and an instruction PDF file to help with the update

my camera has arrived in Sydney but is at the postal center waiting final delivery... bugger the weekend why can't they deliver it today.... waiting, waiting, waiting.

get in hand a used R-D1, wonderful !
BTW, should I upgrade the firmware ? as I noticed that one of the downside is battery life is shortened.
any suggestion ?

just a fast-testing shot with canon 35/2.

thanks !
