Advice on scanner

I can't see me doing anything larger than 35mm so I think the dedicated 35mm scanner is the best way for me to get the best quality although I am very impressed by the results you have shown from the Epson flatbed scanners.

Myoptic3 - The cost of photography equipment - both digital and film is a sore point here in the UK when we see prices in the US but we have to grin and bear it unfortunately.

No problem Iamzip - I am glad that the thread has helped you as well - I am just amazed at the response to be honest as this is my 1st post - seems like this is a good place to learn!

Thanks all

Woz

I don't usually post on forums, either, but I've become addicted to this one! There is a lot of good advice as well as interesting discussion. I think it helps that a lot of the members here seem to be fairly intelligent, on most public forums on the internet it's nothing but "you're wrong!" and "I hate you!"

I disagree!

I know what you mean - some of the digital forums are terrible with 'my dxxx is better than your xxd - just look at this iso 60,000 shot of an empty fish bowl!'

I did a lot of test with scanners...I'm a real Focomat 1C freak, and had to do for a Exhibition large Prints, I could not do on "gallerie Paper" (Baryt)..so I looked for a scanner with my "Master Print" on Baryt Paper and the negative....the only one was the Imacon 343? the little one..to get it right..😱...no sharping, no contrast problems and great in B/W !!..my thing!....

I talked to a Magnum Photographer and he told me that they had the same end on the story...IMACON......shure, they are not very cheap.😱...and for me it was a big money thing...but now I saw some time in ebay the scanner for 1500-2000 $...and the differts to a Nikon is ........

Don't understand me wrong...I like to do pictures in digital like in my darkroom and I can mix it now, you do not see a differenc e....I do my pictures with Leica, it is a lot of money too!...so the IMACON was a big deal for me and I use him 5 yeas now and it will get the next years..If my MAC do it!....

The Nikon was the second..but you need to sharp the Images..I do not want...

Regards,
Jan
