Hi,I'm looking for a small fixed lens camera to be used as a daily carry.Interested in a Auto S2,Canon G III,Minolta 7s.Any suggestions,I've not seen these in awhile so I can't relate to size.HELP!!!.........Robin

The Canon QL17 GIII is probably one of the most popular ones there is. The folks here talked me into it. I love it.
High performance, small size, and the quick load really works. The 40mm f1.7 lens is about the right angle for me, very sharp and fast. It does show some astigmatism and bizarre artifacts when used wide open with bright lights, however.
My only major complaint is that it doesn't have a true match-needle mode.

If you're looking for small, the HiMatics wouldn't cut it, I think...Even the Canonet is a little bigger than the other compacts. I'd go with an Olympus RC (full manual override but only f/2.8) or Minolta 7sII, or any of its clones (Konica S3, Vivitar ES, Revue 400ES--these are only shutter priority). Or Olympus XA.

The Epic has an awesome lens, but is totally automatic. If I were mostly shooting outdoors daytime shots, I'd buy an Epic if I wanted to keep the price low. Weatherproof, fast glass, sharp, and AF.
I owned a Konica C35 once. That thing had a really fun little lens. And the Yashicas are ALL good.

need more info, Robin A: what sort of metering? does it have to have a fast lens? What focal length lens are you looking for?

I would first start by thinking what I wanted from the camera. You can buy lots, decide what you like and then sell some (I tried it that way but probably wouldn't do it that way again). I would try to think about such things as size, how much do you rely on the inbuilt meter or a handheld, do you mainly use the camera in "auto" or in manual. Everyone will have their persoanal opinions but equivalent cameras from Canon, Oly, Konica etc will all produce similar results but the same may not be true for the way they handle.

I too are among those here asking for a bit of more info. But what interests me in order to propose anything, is about what do you intend to do with the camera.
I too use cameras for "daily carry". But my daily carry is for quite clear cut situations: a) morining pict in my way to work, b) night picts in my way home, c) pics at workplace.
The case may be that you pass your day in the streets with different sorts of occupations and this changes the whole equation.
Besides, it will be a good idea if you also post what has been so far your favourite camera and for what reasons.
All the cameras already proposed have both advantages and disadvantages, the danger being you may end buying one after another as you discover each one disadvantage.

Kim and Ruben,Thanks quick responses.I don't think I want to buy a bunch then try to resell,just one to start me .I don't use the cameras I have in my sig. as carry cameras.I like them too much to subject them to any abuse.I want a smaller size than a Fed2,that can be packed in a tote,carried on a motorcycle,taken hunting and fishing.Used in auto mostly,quicker lens.1/500 sp. Maybe a better question would be "what not to look at"........Robin

I really don't think a fixed lens RF is needed for a daily carry. I see you already have a Bessa R. My daily carry is my Bessa R. I have an I22 collapseable lens that allows me to stick the camera into my laptop bag along with my CV 35/2.5 and Serenar 1.8/50 (both in small hard lens cases) if I want a wider angle or faster lens. It takes up surprising little space and it has proven to be a very flexable kit.
