How is the AE lock activated on the Zeiss Ikon RF ?

Is that so? I thought that just pushing it half-way would lock it, and then pushing it from there to the end would shoot?

That's with my Canonet, why not with a Zeiss Ikon? 😕

Yep. The AE lock button is on the back of the camera. Press it to lock the exposure, and press it again to unlock the exposure. I would have preferred the AE to lock only while the button is held down (like my FM3A bodies) but I've learned to live with it thanks to the indicator displayed in the finder while the exposure is locked.

Yeah ... why can't they just do it on the shutter button ? U know - half depressed to lock the exposure, re-compose and fire off.

For those of you who use your left eye to focus , does your right eye get in the way of the button ?

The Hexar RF is pretty nifty. Just dial it to AEL and the shutter button works like that.

I use my left eye to focus and my right eye indeed gets in the way.
But since you don't have to keep on pushing the button for getting AEL (like as it is in the Bessa RxA) it is not that big of a problem.
In any case, I don't use a lot the A mode anyhow, so not much of a problem to me.
