I recently shot 10 rolls of fuji C200 and couldn't find a affordable lab to develop. Asda near me has closed down their photo department, and Teso costs £8 per roll. Boots and Jessops cost around the same for processing only - £5. Is there any places would do it for cheaper?
I am considering doing it myself since it would be cheaper. But it seems developing colour is more complex, and the temperature is much more important than b&w.

If you have the equipment to develop B&W at home, then I would seriously consider also processing the colour films.

A 1L Tetenal C41 kit costs around 20-30ukp and will process in the order of 15 to 20 films. The kit includes developing times for both 38c and 30c, and I find the 30c quite manageable. I do not think that the temperature is so critical if the intent is to scan the negatives rather than print directly (because you can correct any small colour shifts after scanning).

The main problem with the Tetenal kit is that once the chemicals are mixed they have a relatively short storage life. Also, you need to be careful not to splash the blix as it stains fabrics quite badly.

There are lots of excellent labs listed - also in the UK. And most of them are doing not only E6, but also C41 and BW.

And color processing at home - C41 and E6 - is very easy and extremely cheap. In the end it is even more easy than BW, because color processes are standardized.

Extremely easy it is using a JOBO film processor and the Tetenal or Fuji Hunt self-developing kits.

Cheers, Jan

There's also this company, which I've never used, but is proving popular with other photographers I know:

I think develop and (small) scan is £3.00 per roll.

I sent a batch to them June and the Summer one is on its way. Got some excellent results.
The best is that TIFF files don't come with a surcharge. So the large 9€ scans are equivalent to the standard 10-12MP scans but can be in TIFF which other labs charge 2x for!

Specially valuable because They can do 6x9 and recently got a Noritsu, frankly I am wondering about it but haven't got any 120 yet to process. Scanning such a Neg in small resolution kind of defeats the purpose!

Another recommendation for Photo Express, Hull (now £3.50 for developing and scanning). I sent posted them a roll on Monday - it was back this morning (Wednesday).

I'm confused - I've just checked the Photo Express site, and I can't see how you manage to get develop & scan for £3.50... Am I missing something?

BTW, how's the quality of the result? TIA.

My fault! Processing and scanning to cd is £5.50 - see "Undeveloped films, Disposable cameras to CD or USB" under "Services", plus £1.50 p&p.

I've been using them for some years without complaint, and they're very approachable over the phone.

Ok, thanks - I thought there must have been a mistake!

Anyway, good to know that the quality is decent... thanks again.
