Aftermarket film holders for Plustek 8200i

Do they exist? I'm so close to putting this thing on Craigslist as I can't stand the neg strips shifting around the second I insert the holder into the scanner.

I'm using a 7600i without a problem. What is the shifting you are complaining about?

My scanner a 7200 came with out film holder, I bought one from Amazon and it works well.

I have the same problem with the neg holder supplied with the 8200Ai: Align the negative within the gate of the holder, close the top hinged section and the negative jumps enough to require a second or third attempt until I lose all he will to sort it out and put up with the misalignment. Really frustrating, but even more so with half frame negatives due to the slightly larger negative than the gate of the negative holder. (With regard to half frame issues, I have considered obtaining a spare negative holder and removing the inter-frame plastic sections, but having thought further about this I suspect it could lead to issues holding the negative flat.)

Right?! This drives me absolutely ****ing insane. 30 minutes a roll easily turns into 4 hours. It sucks there’s no solution and I have to sell the scanner over this.

I have never had this issue with over 300 rolls scanned. Are your negatives really curved?
Do you guys lower the top, and then before you clip it down pinch one of the negative divider bars to stop it jumping, or do you just slam it shut?

No slamming the carrier shut, but I must admit I haven’t tried the ‘pinching’ you mentioned. I will try on the next roll.

I was having the same problem. This is what helped: Make sure your negatives are as flat as possible. Hanging mine up to dry with weighted clamps improved matters a great deal. Once dry, I put the negative holder down on one of these led tracing tablets which makes the alignment much easier to see. ( The tablet also makes a decent light table to examine the negatives.) Once everything is properly aligned I close the holder slowly and generally it stays put. Sometimes though it takes a few attempts. I second this. I run the shower for a bit before hanging my negatives to dry to make sure they'll be relatively flat. Curled negatives do jump in the holder.

I'm having problems keeping the strip of negatives horizontally aligned. All of the strips seem to end up slightly skewed in the holder.

My negatives are completely flat, but like Ricoh, I haven’t tried the pinch long method. I normally slam it shut and then slowly inch the strip over until they’re aligned (which is undone the instant i insert the holder.) I’m having a hard time understanding exactly how that pinch method works. Thanks!
