I'm looking for an aftermarket hood for my Millenium 50/1.4 Nikkor. I don't have the original and I like to use hoods for trauma protection as much as anything. Any good suggestions? A vented hood would probably be best. It would be great if I could still put the cap on with the filter in place when the camera goes in the bag.
While it certainly looks the part, the original Nikon hood isn't that great as it blocks a fair portion of the finder, and being a clip-on type hood, it will pop off when you least expect it.
I find the vented screw-in hood below a lot more practical to use, and you can put a 55mm cap on the front of it. If you're lucky you might be able to track down a similarly designed vintage Kenko or Waltz hood, though don't forget that the thread pitch needs to be 0.75mm for the Millennium, unlike the vintage Nikkors that use a 0.50mm pitch.
I think heavystar on ebay also sells similar hoods.

I bought one from heavystar - hood and cap was about $16.

Nikkor. What else?
I also use the aftermarket hood from Heavystar on the original 5cm f/1.4 (good point about the 0.50 and 0.75mm pitch). By the way, Heavystar is also a great source for aftermarket rear lens caps for the Nikon RF lenses.
I had a Kenko hood for the 5cm, but recently sold it beause it blocked quite a bit of the viewfinder image. The vented hood is much better in practical use.

Ditto here, though it wasn't specifically for this particular lens. I think heavystar also offers a tilted "tulip"-shaped version of many of these hoods (like a screw-on version of the Leitz 12585, etc.), which block slightly less of the VF on Leica Ms (can't remember if it makes much difference on a Nikon RF).

can you tell me where I can get this hood, any links ?
whats the name of the hood(s) ? Yama, Toma ?

What I did with my Millennium was use the Yama Special hoods from Japan. It's originally designed for the Contax 45/2 G with a 46mm filter thread. To bridge the two different diametes, I also have a 43 to 46mm step-up ring.
This is what it looks like.

The 50/1.4 is on the Epson.

The 50/1.4 hood is on the right. The 35/1.8 is using a similar hood designed for the older 50/1.4 S-mount (on the Epson) and TomA's hood is on the left.

I bought the heavystar vented hood. It fits perfect and doesn't obstruct the finder at all. Great value.

I've tried the tilted "tulip" shaped hood on a Millennium 50 too. Works fine and thanks to the inward tilt is practically invisible from the viewfinder. I personally prefer a more conventional looking hood though.
