I agree. APX 25 was awesome. The 100 and 400 films are acceptable but Kodak films are far better in those speeds. I think Tmax 100 and Tmax 400 both have better tonality and grain.

I don't know about "far better" but i love apx 100, much more than the tmax

I'm interested in seeing some of the P&S cameras. I'm sure they'll be plastic and lower tier, but they might be fun.

Good to see the return of Agfpan. I don't see Scala mentioned. Well, I guess you can't get the whole kit and kaboodle.

Have you shot any of the Foma Reversal film? Great tonal range, only shot a few rolls, but was processed by Foma. The processing directions are published.

Scans and prints well also.

Although I am glad to see an increase in film stock, I just never could get Agfa products to work for me; not b/w I processed myself, nor color I had developed by color labs. I really didn't like it. It seemed to have strange color and too much grain. Just my opinion of course.

Despite working at it I've not found a slow speed film that can rival APX25. PanF can come close, but requires much more careful exposure and development. I've really found the Rollei slow films to be pitifully slower than their listed ISO's in every developer I've tried. I end up shooting the ATP1.1 at 16 and still have to be extremely generous with exposures.

With the Adox/Efke films I end up losing shots to coating problems. Ah well. ND filters are becoming my friends.

The APX emulsions are different than Kodak, that's for sure, but for some applications I like them as much. Not better or worse, just a different rendition. Of course, there is no speed-equivalent to Agfapan 25; I have one roll of the old emulsion left, so it will be interesting to compare it to the new emulsion.

The same pretty much applies to the Vista emulsions. I really, really like the colour and tonal rendering of Vista 200. It's a bit rougher than some other ISO 200 C41 films, but the colour pallette is quite pleasing to me.

I never had the chance to use the Precisa 100, so this will be fun! The Agfachrome 50 & 64 emulsions were really quite lovely, and I don't think are quite matched by any current E6 films.

AFAIK Ferrania has never made b&w film (or at least distributed any in North America), so I would doubt everything is simply re-badged.

Ferrania will not be making new film, they will only be the North American distributor of Agfa's already existing stock of old film. Read page two next time!!!:bang: BTW thats good news to me!

Are you people ALL brain-damaged? Agfa is not coming back. It's just a name. No new film manufacturing, no new film. It's great that what's left in cold storage is going to be sold off while it still has some value, but it's not 'new' film and there is no 'new' manufacturing going on. Jaysus, you'd think you guys would have half a brain between youse.

I would think that they'll start with a modest lineup, re-establish themselves in the marketplace and then possibly gradually expand the product range.

I see they are promising autofocus and zoom models for the point and shoot lineup.

I'm curious to give their films a try -- their color films, I mean. I already know how APX100/400 are. Even so, I'll buy some of that too. If you like the company and its products, then you should support them. No sales = no product = no company.

You are about as wrong as wrong could be. No new factory, no new film, Agfa is gone and is going to stay gone. NO NEW FILM. All they can do is relabel existing film or sell what's left in cold storage. That's it.

I've asked AgfaPhoto whether this is old stock or new production.

Agfa films have been off the scene for a while. I would think that most of the film would be expired by now, especially the color films and particularly the transparency film.

Now, everyone should take a valium before you burst a blood vessel. Christ. It's only film.
