Does Xtol give worse results (in terms of grain and tonality) as it ages (say > 9 months)?
I mixed up a 5L batch of Xtol in October 2011. I used that a fair bit but then moved to using a couple of other developers (fickle that I am).
Recently I processed a couple of rolls of Arista Premium 400 with Xtol 1+1, using my practiced routine. I find that I am getting negatives which are more muddy and grainy than the beautiful Xtol look I am used to. Here is an example of a recent scan:
Here is an older picture: same lens, film, developer and same routine. I like the tonality here much better.
