hitmanh: Your camera is a 6x9. But, it also has build-in 'barn-doors-like' mask for use as a 6x6. The swinging pieces of thin metal are inside the space where the roll film goes. One on each side. If you swing them out over the film rails you will be shooting 6x6 with a 105 lens (something like a 60 on the 35mm world). Indeed it is a good shooter, though you need to stop the lens down for improved sharpness. There are some web posts/blogs you should search for and read. The most interesting one I remember reading is about using this camera with very high ISO film and stoped down. Grain is not an issue because of the large negative.

Boy am I old.
I remember when "serious photographs" were taken with only medium or large format.
Rolliflex (no budget for Blads) with pistol grip, prism, and potato masher strobe and you were ready for action shots. Anything set piece, two guys lugged the 4x5 outfit. Love them p100 flash bulbs.
35mm was ok when you wanted classroom slides, (lecture halls demanded MF glass slides for the arc projector). Also useful for "spit shots" (close ups of athletes banging into each other so hard the spit flew)
Playboy needed enough resolution to seamlessly air brush out the moles, tattoos and bite marks.

Seemed like only the National Geographic dudes used serious 35mm...

All formats can be fun. I enjoy shooting Canon digital, Leica IIIf, Nikon FM2, Mamiya 645, and Kiev 60. I'll try large format eventually. They all have their places but I agree that the prices on medium format equipment just can't be beat.

Photographs? I thought that we lived in era of images and imaging. It flows well with "instant messaging".
